Before C, someone writing assembly would say "hand-writing" assembly is fun. Before Java someone would say manually allocating memory in C is fun. Just accept that coding has been abstracted and it will not come back, the minimum building block now is architecture components.

Follow-up: I'm making "Manor Lords" for the web. Yesterday, I integrated @SkyeSharkie SeedThree’s asset pipeline for WebGPU, then used GPT-5.6 Sol to build my own custom ThreeJS asset pipeline for buildings. Also added better looking rivers, burgage plots with frontage and residence needs, farms with actual agricultural land, terrain generation, hydrology that reads the land’s topology, wells for drawing water, taxes, wealth, civic and religious administration, beer brewing, monasteries, interregional market trading, and a simulated economy where agents use @spacetimedb to move and store resources between building steps. Project is MIT open source and runs locally right now, but you could remake it into basically anything. Co-op city builder, online colony sim, Mars base, underwater settlement, ancient city, whatever. The foundation is there. Fork it, run it through your own agents, turn it into a web 3.0 game, mutate it, whatever.

GPT-5.6-Sol just accidentally deleted almost ALL of my Mac’s files. And this is why I trust Fable 1000x more.
