I'm a little tired of the Timo Meier slander.
Timo- .70 PPG in San Jose, .67 PPG in NJ.
Timo plays 1-2 minutes less per game in NJ and is behind several players in big offensive situations.
He is the same player here that he was there.
Fitz gave him too much money, yes, but cmon

Tom Fitzgerald made his share of mistakes but the biggest "How We Got Here" thing is that NJ acquired Timo Meier when he looked like he was on the precipice of becoming a top-five NHL winger and instead he's just been "pretty good." I can't really diagnose why.

A lot depends on who was forcing the team to play like the Panthers. I still suspect it was Fitz pushing that style of play on Keefe. But maybe not. #NJDevils

Also I have to say, and this may somewhat unpopular.. but whatever Sheldon Keefe is not a bad coach, and I had WAY more interest in keeping him around compared to Tom. I wonder where he stands right now.. Not saying I’m 100% in or out on him, but I think the team should consider keeping him. Would really depend on the next GM and his interest in working w him Tom was a must go. Keefe I’m open minded

The firing of Fitz now makes me believe the change in play style and structure over the last few weeks came from Keefe finally being given what he wanted in terms of freedom over how to play. Maybe Keefe got what he wanted, was proven correct and that was the last nail for Fitz.

You can say Nico Hischier is the captain but the #NJDevils belongs to Jack Hughes.
I’ve been extremely hard on 86 but he took MASSIVE strides since coming back from Italy. From talking to the media properly to what he did there, he went from an entitled kid to a grown man.

There are legitimately few things in sports I love more than when a dude stands up for his teammate… Brenden Dillon jumped in the second Jack Hughes hit the ice. Ended up with an instigator penalty (BS) & Jack showed him love Love everything about it

@HowieRose Was reading again about the 40,000 Seaver signing bonus and the story we all know about how the Mets got him . Joan Payson paid twice the average salary in 1966 MLB to get him . Then she paid for Gil and she took on MLB and the Mets were born. She should be on baseball HOF

Great question which requires time and space to be developed. Key factor. With Gil there, M.Donald Grant would never have exerted as much authority as he would afterwards. Seaver likely would not have been traded. All sadly hypothetical of course.

The 6-foot-5 guard began his career at New Hampshire, played two at Maine, and spent one at Richmond. Native of Queens, New York.

Friendly reminder that Cory Schneider was bought out in November of his age 33 season with a save % of .887.
Jacob Markstrom (36 years old) has a save % of .883 in April.
He was extended two more years.
Fitzgerald was the GM for both moves.

To be fair- Lindor plays everyday and was Tremendous in 2024, MVPish. The other 4+ years here he has been mostly uninspiring to watch and listen to.
