Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson releases a statement ahead of the NBA expansion vote “Seattle is ready to welcome the Sonics home. We never stopped being a basketball city, and the fans have never given up. You see it in our parks, in our schools, in packed gyms in every neighborhood, and in our Seattle Storm championships. We built a world-class arena. We have a strong economy and a dedicated workforce. We are prepared, we are united, and we are ready for the next chapter of our Sonics.” (Via @ChrisDaniels_TV )

When I ran for President in 08, @chucknorris endorsed me & he & Gena traveled with @janethuckabee & me for over 4 months. Their Christian faith was authentic & deep as was their love for each other. His love of America was profound and borne out of a patriotism that was part of his upbringing & his military service. He was humble & kind. I'll never forget a visit we made to a Veterans Home in New Hampshire. Chuck & Gena graciously visited with every veteran, listening & caring. Most of these veterans idolized Chuck Norris. He & Gena were patient, warm, & compassionate. When we got in the vehicle after the visit, I looked over at them & they were both weeping having been touched by these aging US veterans & their stories. Chuck Norris took God seriously but never took himself too seriously. We often spent travel time sharing Chuck Norris jokes. We went to his ranch in Texas. We kept in touch after the campaign. His given name is Carlos, but it took a while to get used to using the name Gena & his mother called him because after all, he was CHUCK NORRIS! Got to know his wonderful mother who passed away in 2024. He was a guest multiple times on my TV show. When I was named Ambassador to Israel, he was thrilled. He was a strong friend of Israel & of @IsraeliPM Netanyahu. My heart is broken by his death. My condolences to Gena & his family. The legend may be gone, but the memories will never die. Thank you Chuck. "Well done, good & faithful servant!"

In A Christmas Carol (1843), Charles Dickens delivers a line that cuts through the glitter of the season and forces us to look at what Victorian society preferred to ignore: “Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts.” It is a sentence spoken quietly—but it lands like a blow. At a time when Christmas was wrapped in ideas of warmth, generosity, and abundance, Dickens reminds his readers that for vast numbers of people, survival itself was uncertain. Common necessaries meant food, warmth, shelter—things so basic they should never have been in question. And yet, thousands went without them, unseen and unheard beneath the surface of a growing, wealthy nation. Then Dickens widens the lens. Common comforts. Not luxuries. Not excess. Just dignity. Security. A moment of ease. A fire that stays lit. A meal that doesn’t require sacrifice. A life that contains something more than endurance. By pointing out that hundreds of thousands were denied even these small mercies, Dickens exposes a deeper cruelty: a society that allowed people to live, but not truly live. This line is spoken by the spirits to confront Ebenezer Scrooge—not just as an individual, but as a symbol of collective indifference. It is meant to unsettle him. And it is meant to unsettle us. Dickens was not writing a sentimental holiday tale; he was issuing a moral challenge. Charity alone was not enough. Pity was not enough. What was required was recognition, responsibility, and change. Nearly two centuries later, the line still stings because it remains uncomfortably familiar. It asks the same question now as it did then: What does prosperity mean if it coexists with widespread suffering? What is the value of celebration when so many are excluded from its warmth? Dickens believed stories could awaken conscience. This line endures because it still does—quietly, powerfully, and without mercy. © Colorized History #archaeohistories

@kg90211 @MichelleKinney @rickygervais Someone doesn't know history very well. They were not socialists. They were indeed fascists. "Hitler and other Nazi leaders, such as Joseph Goebbels, explicitly redefined 'socialism' to mean the unity of the 'Aryan' race."

@MichelleKinney @rickygervais You don't know what fascism is. The German Nazi party were Socialists. That's the meaning of "Nazi". Government control of healthcare, school, gun confiscation. What rights have you lost with Trump other than for your demand of acceptance and celebration of your mental disorder.

Ricky, your humor and insight were truly missed at the Grammys last night. Many of today’s celebrities appear so absorbed in themselves that lecturing others seems to outweigh self-reflection. Credit to you for staying genuine and speaking your mind rather than following popular trends.
