Happy Tax Day. The top 1% pays 40% of all income taxes, the top 10% pays 72% and the top 25% pays 87% of all income taxes. Meanwhile the bottom 50% pays ZERO income taxes. For all of you actually paying taxes, do you think your tax dollars are being spent well?

Masters of the Universe director Travis Knight shares that the film explores what masculinity is: In the 80s the mantra was, "Real men don't cry. Boys don't cry. If you express any kind of vulnerability, you must immediately punch a fence post to establish equilibrium. It was a really interesting way for us to explore these things that are happening in our culture, for us to compare and contrast what that stuff meant in the '80s versus what that means now." He went on to note He-Man's character from the original cartoon: "He was talking about kindness. He was talking about friendship and compassion. He was somebody who cared. And he was essentially like a bronzed empathy coach in furry underpants. It was unique. It was different. And certainly for a kid like me —  I was a sensitive kid. I was an artist. I was kind of a weird guy, you might say, and I made friends slowly when I made them at all…. I was comfortable with my own company, and I had deep thoughts and deep feelings, but I had a hard time making those types of deep connections easily with others. And so that very notion that strength and sensitivity could commingle, it was seismic. It was like discovering you could own both a tank and a diary." Do you think this captures the core of He-Man?

⚡️Houston is what happens when the physical world starts mattering again. That chart is a regime signal. A metro that large adding that much real GDP that fast means capital is flowing toward throughput, energy, logistics, engineering, fabrication, and movement of actual molecules. Houston is not winning because it has better vibes. Houston is winning because the economy still runs on power, pipes, ports, chemicals, steel, freight, and scale. That is the part a lot of people still do not get. The last cycle trained everyone to worship abstraction. Apps, media, software, branding, financial engineering, digital prestige. Then the world got more constrained, more fragmented, more inflationary, more physical. Suddenly the winners look different. Power matters. Land matters. shipping matters. Industrial competence matters. Houston lives there. The deeper truth is that Houston is one of the clearest expressions of American hard power inside a city. Energy complex. Port complex. petrochemicals. aerospace adjacency. medical scale. construction. immigration. Business formation. It is one of the few places in America where the old industrial world and the new compute world can actually shake hands. AI can talk all day about transforming civilization. Civilization still needs electricity, cooling, concrete, gas, transport, and buildable land. Houston sits closer to those choke points than most of the prestige cities that dominate the cultural conversation. That is why this growth matters at size. Small boomtowns can rip for a while on one narrow driver. Houston doing this means the underlying machine is broad. It has enough depth to convert population, capital, infrastructure, and commodity advantage into real output. That is a very different thing from a tourism bounce or a housing sugar high. The highest coherence read is simple. America is rotating back toward cities that can do hard things. Not talk about them. Not regulate them. Not aestheticize them. Do them. Houston is ugly, functional, rich in substrate, and built for scale. In a serious era, those traits start compounding. That is what this chart is really saying. The future is getting more physical again. Houston was already there.

Houston economy is growing at 10.6%. That’s remarkable at this size.

Humans spent centuries writing books, essays, articles, and research papers. Then we used all that human writing to train AI systems to write like humans. Then we built another AI system to inspect the writing and say, “This looks AI suspiciously.” So now we have one machine trained on humans to sound human, and another machine trained on humans to figure out whether the first machine sounds a little too human. And after all that, a stressed human still has to make the final call.

Why the adult rape allegation against Cesar Chavez is VERY clearly not credible… 1) The woman is 96 years old with a “hazy” memory 2) She waited over 60 years to go public 3) She had 2 kids with him but only had sex with him twice (🤔) and neither time was 100% consensual 4) She also had 4 kids with HIS BROTHER! (Which the @nytimes conveniently leaves out) 5) She worked with him until he died and she praised him on X multiple times, decades after he died (see below) 6) She has plenty of incentives to lie, particularly so that her career doesn’t look like it was carried by her having extensive sexual affairs with him AND his brother, and the fact that Cesar accused her of stealing money from the organization This story is not only not credible, it is completely irrelevant to the uncorroborated allegations of child rape, which the NY Times desperately conflates with it in order to give the appearance of there being significant evidence here. I have ZERO love for Chavez, but this story is completely unfair, especially since he has been dead for 33 years.

Sorry if I’m bringing everyone down today. Didn’t know there was a game on today until two minutes ago and just realized I have zero interest in watching. The GM gave up on the season and the players look checked out now too. Hard to get excited to watch right now.

BREAKING: Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo just left NRG Stadium after coming to review surveillance video of the incident that resulted in her removal from the Megan Moroney concert earlier this week. She told reporters the video didn’t clearly show what happened when she was engaged with Rodeo security but she could see her guests. She also didn’t see any footage from the county suite. She added that the Rodeo should take measures to have better security cameras in the chute area for public safety reasons. “We’ve done all we can do,” the judge said, appreciating those who have called for transparency. She would not answer my question about whether this has caused a distraction from the Rodeo and for Harris County residents. Law enforcement escorted her to a black SUV before her exit.

@ManaByte I was 6 when this movie came out. I never hated the Ewoks. And the Ewok village was one of my favorite "Santa" toys.

I find the revisionism of Return of the Jedi really frustrating. I remember when my friends and I went to a 30th anniversary 35mm screening of it in Hollywood. There was this intro video where people were talking about how much they loved the Ewoks. Before JarJar and the Prequels, Star Wars fans HATED the Ewoks. Not just because they defeated the Empire, but because they were a representation of how George turned the movie into a toy commercial. The word “Ewok” is never spoken in the movie. People know what they’re called because the toys were marketed so heavily.

Genuinely the funniest drama that could’ve possibly been manufactured right before the Oscars. Absolutely dumb on every level. “WOW, I can’t believe he doesn’t like that thing….” Okay? People have dumb opinions on things all the time. I see stuff on here every day that I completely disagree with. Who gives AF. Move on.

We won and are somehow back in third but I honestly can’t remember the last time I was less interested in a Rockets season. Just feels like a slog before the inevitable slaughter in the second round. And the style of play makes my eyes bleed.

Whats keeping Reed Sheppard on the bench isnt Tari Eason or Jabari Smith. Its the fact that you just cant start him AND Sengun because of the defense. The problem with getting ppl to understand this is that most Reed aficionados are also Sengun stans, so it does not compute.

Watching Ime Udoka coach this team this season has me about ready to be done with him: 1. Reed Sheppard should start 2. Amen Thompson is NOT a point guard 3. Sengun and Amen should never be allowed to shoot midrange shots. Also tired of watching Sengun hijack possessions and spending 20 seconds posting up 4. Clint Capela should play more. His rim protection and rebounding is sorely needed

Dude wrote…..”To the children that thought it would be funny to hide bricks behind a Trump sign, I have already contacted the police. What exactly was the goal here? A prank? A TikTok? You stacked bricks behind a yard sign where no one could see them and I ended up driving straight into it with my BRAND NEW Tesla Cybertruck. Do you understand how expensive that front end is? This isn’t a Hot Wheels car from Walmart. It’s not “just bricks.” It’s body damage. It’s repair bills. It’s time in a shop. It’s insurance headaches. All because someone thought it would be HILARIOUS to booby trap a political sign. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Someone is going to pay for the damage, and it’s not going to be me.” What say you? Absolutely ridiculous.

#SNL's BAFTAs Tourette's sketch is under fire as the charity group Tourette’s Action slams the "horrific" trolling. “Mocking a disability is never acceptable. It would not be tolerated for any other condition, and it should not be tolerated by people with Tourette’s. Tourette’s is a complex neurological condition, of which there is no cure. It is not a joke. It is not a personality trait. It is not a source of entertainment. It is a condition that can be extremely debilitating, causing pain isolation and huge amounts of discrimination.” variety.com/2026/tv/global…
