Many English rugby league fans want the rugby union team to lose. They feel it doesn't represent them, it's not an aspect of England with which they identify - EVEN IF being English is fairly central to their sense of self. So a variation on what I said last night.

HORRIFIC night in the West Bank. Israeli settlers are attacking more than nine Palestinian villages and cities now, including Bethlehem, setting cars and homes on fire and attempting to burn families alive.

We are always told Iran is the dangerous aggressor but the last time it invaded anywhere was in 1856. While Israel are invading 3 countries right now. And the USA are bombing, starving and imprisoning the leader of 3 different countries. Who is really the dangerous aggressor?

A U.S. invasion of Kharg Island would most plausibly have to take place by air and would also likely require invading coastal Iran to protect and supply an occupation there; as well as more ground troops to defend and supply those troops: responsiblestatecraft.org/kharg-island-i…

Spot on. We’ve come to fetishise “local representatives” far too much, a symptom of our politics becoming smaller and more parochial. What we need is quality national politicians. If they have to be “parachuted” in, and they spend more time in SW1 than the constituency, so be it.

@qvcfan5442 He has stayed out of the fray but he's still a YP member as far as I know. Unfortunately all candidacies are now tightly controlled by Corbyn's CEC majority and have to be approved by them, very Starmerite
