@GOWENYT It’s really not going to be as big of a deal as folks want it to be. No one is bigger than any sport. He will be a distant memory in about a season or so if he goes. The world keeps spinning.

Max Verstappen is that driver that so many people hate, but will eventually miss him when he’s left the sport for a few years They just don’t realize yet, how boring F1 will be when he’s gone

I do agree here. The US is making this tournament very inaccessible. Unfortunately here in the states we are used to this, and it doesn’t phase us as much. I come to the UK every year for prem games and I’m blown away at how easy and affordable it is. It’s a shame really, but is what it is. I’m still pumped.

@panic1383 @fcb_patrick_ @FPL_Barbossa @FPL_Calle @FOXSports I think having the WC in non football traditional countries is a great way to expand the world’s game BUT you have to make it accessible to the non football supporters for that to actually have an effect. I’m against what happened in Qatar but it was great for all the fans

@WeaselThfc @fcb_patrick_ @FPL_Barbossa @FPL_Calle @FOXSports Every World Cup not hosted in Europe or SA tends to get this response tho. I think there is a bit of an “our game” defensiveness overseas that comes out. That said, to your point, I’d prob feel that way too a bit if I were from Europe or other traditional football nations.

@trnebula_ @FPL_Barbossa @FPL_Calle @FOXSports I’d argue Richards is slightly above avg. he played such a key role in Palace’s FA cup run and has been one of the only positives since our struggles began back in October. That said I can see your point as well.

@panic1383 @FPL_Barbossa @FPL_Calle @FOXSports idk, i can see your point but i am just confused as to how the no2 player in the ballondor, with the potential to bring brazil back to the top teams, is lower than an average crystal palace defender🤷‍♂️ (american bias)

@WeaselThfc @fcb_patrick_ @FPL_Barbossa @FPL_Calle @FOXSports That’s a fair point. We can be selfish pricks. Can’t defend that 🤣 but that idea gets so into folks heads abroad sometimes it becomes all they see with a tweet like that, which is kind of what I’m trying to get at. It’s not that deep

If the US exceeds expectations and does well, Richards will play a big part in that, and that will become a big story in this tournament given they’re the host country. This list is by American sports journalists viewing the tournament through an American pov. I think the reaction to it online by folks abroad is a bit dramatic given the context.

@panic1383 @FPL_Barbossa @FPL_Calle @FOXSports you’ve acknowledged this list is about how influential a player will be to their national team… and the outcome stays the same in that raphina should be higher. football is a sport where whoever scores the most goals, wins. i am curious about ur point tho, pls explain more

@panic1383 @FPL_Barbossa @FPL_Calle @FOXSports chris richards is a centre back for quite an average team. bruno fernandes is the best attacker for one of the favourites. i think we know who's more likely to define the tournament

Yes. What’s your point? No one is suggesting Chris Richards is better than the players he is listed above. He is one of the best players on the host team. How the US does in the WC will be a part of how this tournament is “defined”, and he will have an impact in that, for better or worse.
