If, as some speculate, AI coding leads to the death of Open Source (because you can “just” vibe-code the libraries you need) presumably it also means less training for future Claude’s. So will AI coding plateau? Or spirally decline, from ingesting its own output henceforth?

@SipeedIO The lowest that covers my use case. honestly, unlike gaming PCs etc. where you can decide based on guts and your pocket, on NPU workloads you either have enough ram or the device has little use. I might be fine with 1GB if I use a very limited LLM for home automation.

@lauriewired @FrontendMasters Well, C was kinda a "portable high level assembler" and sometimes it's fun to crawl through that "I do all with my bare hands"-language. Tho, I wish C had templates. It would make STL like containers feasible without macro magic. We need a C+!

I have…issues with this. Ok, if you want to implement all of the STL features yourself in every single program you make. Wanna vector? Make it yourself. Need to resize your vector? Better work on your own allocator. Not to mention C is *smaller* because it never adapted to the times. If you want to use smart pointers for memory safety, using good RAII practice you literally…can’t in C. Also, I highly recommend writing assembly programs by hand. It’s fun, and interesting. C++ is only “complicated” in the sense that it provides tools for nearly any usecase. If it was less complex, you would be missing core features. I know it’s a bit of a ramble, and I’m not trying to be mean. But I hear this logic commonly spread through programming circles and it’s extremely misleading.

Why do some developers still prefer C over C++?
