Anthropic just revealed that Claude Mythos found a security flaw in OpenBSD, one of the most secure operating systems out there, and the bug had been hiding for 27 years.
That’s actually insane.

JUST IN: Anthropic says Claude Mythos found a 27-year-old OpenBSD vulnerability in one of the world’s most security-hardened operating systems.

@davepl1968 They did such a good job with it that I think Coke Classic is undrinkable now. Too sugary.

I've not tried Coke Zero yet. I keep hearing about it. I have it in the fridge. My kids rave about it.
It's just that every artificial sweetener I've ever tried tastes like medicine mixed with ass.
So I want to believe. I want it to be true. And that's why I haven't tried it yet. Because expectations are the thief of joy. The longer I don't try it, the longer it might be true.

Keeks 🦋@DietCoke_Esq
I will litigate this. Diet Coke is just not the same drink. Coke Zero is regular Coke with no calories
English

@Kekius_Sage At the deepest level, we truly don’t know. It just does, and that’s why it’s called a fundamental constant.

i don't know why "robot that folds laundry" is such a pervasive idea
it takes a maybe 15 minutes to fold laundry, or i can take my laundry to a laundromat and get it washed and folded for $1.50/lb
it's just not a big enough chore to justify an expensive purchase like a robot!

Introducing Lume. A lamp that does your chores. Order now. Shipping this summer.
English

@blip_tm You’d revisit this opinion if you had a family with children. Laundry becomes something you do every DAY, not weekly. My wife spends HOURS per week (of which she only has so many) washing and folding laundry. We live the chore daily and it is ABSOLUTELY big enough to justify it.

@NBAPlowboy @HiroBeats I know i feel like you right but then why did he delete lol
English

@riptusk331 @HiroBeats Why are people so mean on the internet? Do you talk to people like that in person?
English

@WyattCatarina I’m not sure what you mean. If anything this proves she was an incredible actor. She is so grounded and intelligent here.
English

@avidseries Having no context at all about the film or its background, this scene is absolutely hysterical and I burst out laughing just watching. I’m sorry.
English

@AlecStapp Thinking critically? Challenging orthodoxy? Isn’t that the job of a journalist lol.
You might be suffering from a form of AI psychosis if this is truly mind boggling to you. Interesting to see up close
English

Mind-boggling to me that journalists at prestigious publications are still saying stuff like this
Merryn Somerset Webb@MerrynSW
What if the whole LLM thing is a false start? If the flaws are inherent systemic problems - if the compounding of hallucinations/errors can't be sorted out? If the capex build out is one of the biggest misallocations of capital ever? Then what? bloomberg.com/news/newslette…

The Anthropic Mythos release does not appear near the top of the homepage on any major news site today.
The NYT is closest, but it's still pretty far down. The Guardian thinks a Vogue cover with Anna Wintour and Meryl Streep is more important. The Washington Post is prioritizing yet another "we tried to get into Berghain" story.
The media is not adequately covering the insane moment we are in.

We're not going to travel beyond the solar system, according to Leonard Susskind. And neither are aliens, coming to visit us.
We may not be alone, but we are stuck here for, essentially forever.
1. The nearest star is 4.24 light years away. The fastest spacecraft ever built would require 6,600 years to get there.
2. Surely we can just build faster spacecraft. The problem is to get to anywhere close to the speed of light, we need exponentially more energy.
3. Chemical rockets will just not work. Even fusion rockets won't work. Even 10% of the speed of light is not achievable. The Tsiolkovsky Rocket Equation prevents it.
4. Interstellar dust becomes hand grenades when traveling anywhere close to the speed of light. Ships break.
5. Space radiation will kill us over the time need to travel interstellar distances. Impossible to protect without massive shields, which require massive energy to accelerate and de-accelerate.
