The Boys Showrunner Eric Kripke confirms the show was always intended to be about Trump:
"We just wanted to do a very realistic version of a superhero show, one where superheroes are celebrities behaving badly. Trump was the, ‘He’s not really getting the nomination, is he?’ guy. When he got elected, we had a metaphor that said more about the current world. Suddenly, we were telling a story about the intersection of celebrity and authoritarianism and how social media and entertainment are used to sell fascism. We’re right in the eye of the storm. And once we realized that, I just felt an obligation to run in that direction as far as we could.”
Did this derangement ruin the show?
Hot take: Sub Rosa isn’t the worst TNG episode. I don’t even think I’d put it in the bottom 5. Maybe not even bottom 10. Is it stupid? Oh yeah. But there are far worse offenders for worst episode in season 7 alone.
In my opinion, the worst episode, hands down is The Naked Now. Tasha Yar never ever recovered from the horrible writing of that episode. The two things people know about her are that she banged a robot and that she was killed by an evil oil slick, and the first of those happened in the very second episode.
Beverly Crusher actress Gates McFadden reveals Patrick Stewart hated what's widely regarded as Star Trek: TNG's worst episode:
“When I saw the ‘Sub Rosa’ script, I was like, ‘You are kidding me.’ Patrick hated it. He was like ‘This is absurd’ and all. And when you read it, there are so many completely absurd things in it. And it’s more like a little a Gothic, I don’t know horror or something, but yeah, now I embrace it because I think it is hilarious. I mean, I just, I’ve learned to love the green-eyed orgasm that Crusher has, you know? I mean, that doesn’t happen every day, a green-eyed orgasm…”
Is it hilarious or is it just plain bad?
@WokeRepellant@TaraBull Matter of opinion and while I don't necessarily disagree with you, that's what the paying fans want but idgi regardless. The more wholesome the better.
@fandompulse Yeah, I'm not taking any posturing from a 23 year old former X Factor USA contestant about what Star Trek should and shouldn't be. Fuck off with that nonsense.
Starfleet Academy actor Karim Diane lashes out at fans, saying the show is intentionally a "middle finger" toward those who are not interested in identity politics:
“I’m gonna hold your hand when I say this: Star Trek has always been woke, and what is the alternative to being woke? Sleep? [Laughs] Cuz I’m not tired. “
“Being a part of this franchise has honestly felt like putting up a big middle finger to every racist, homophobic and sexist idea that tries to limit who gets to belong in the future. And even if we only had one season to share that message? I’d be proud. But we don’t. We have two. Two full seasons. Twenty hours of telling people: hey you, you belong here, and that is something to celebrate.”
Is this attitude from the cast and crew why the show is failing?
Brave on an infinite number of levels, Caleb Hearon wears an “ICE OUT” pin while dressed as a traffic cone at "The Devil Wears Prada 2" world premiere.
Well, that leaves little to the imagination.
