@pinaldave watching your pluralsight course on data and I think your example of data quality makes no sense. Who would have 150 year olds in their dataset? I can’t imagine this would be illustration of a real world example. (I am seriously laughing at this example’s timeliness)

@broderick It irritates me that the image AI companies offer artists a way to opt out of being included when that should be covered by copyright. Only materials under creative commons, etc have proactively opted in.

We, Americans, need regulation now or we will be left behind. We need regulations on AI training data, we need new labor laws, we need new copyrights. It is a waste of time to worry it an AI wants to live or not. We are barreling towards a very scary future.

AI will (most likely) not gain sentience in our lifetime. But what it is doing right now is replacing human labor with bad facsimiles, making public communication worse, automating prejudices, strengthening monopolies, and creating new ways to terrorize each other.

This is the most vacuous talking point. "Hate speech" is not a term with any legal meaning, nor is there even general agreement among the public about what it is. 1st Amendment exceptions are very narrow, and the amendment protects most of what people refer to as hate speech.

It is a real stroke of genius for Trump to launch a steady stream of lies and vicious personal attacks against the Special Counsel investigating him and his wife. Personally attacking a prosecutor’s spouse is always the best way to get them to back off.
