@uptimecontinuum @hvworlton @Primary_Pianist My point is that the religion described in the Book of Mormon does not match The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And all doctrine within the church has evolved and sometimes flip-flopped since the 1830s. I’m just stating this factually, not as a personal grievance.

One of the stranger claims I see online is that “Mormons don’t know their own doctrine.” As someone who has spent decades in the Church, I find that accusation difficult to take seriously. 🧵

@Other_Sheep_ When you die you are judged. There is no scriptural context for baptizing for the dead. And baptizim is not a requirement of salvation. You can accept Christ's gift of salvation not be baptized and still will be in heaven.

Why would Christ preach to those who are dead if they don’t have the opportunity to accept him after this life? And if they do, do they not need baptism? And if they do need baptism how do they get baptized after they died?

@hvworlton @Primary_Pianist The Book of Mormon does not include the distinction between salvation and exaltation, three degrees of glory, premortal existence, proxy work for the dead, temple marriage, or other basic components of the plan of salvation, as the doctrine currently exists in the church.

@j_divis You mean things like how it mentions atonement 39 times while the NT mentions it once? Or how it emphasis God's mercy and power of deliverance? Or how it testifies of the goodness of Jesus throughout?

18/ Full-circle: Mormonism may borrow Christian language. It may use Christian symbols. It may speak constantly about Jesus. But Christianity is defined by who God is. And on that question, mormonism and Christianity give fundamentally different answers. @dojphofficial

The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is objectively true. It’s so true that everyone’s dead ancestors are all being taught the gospel of Jesus Christ by dead members of the church. Keep that in mind the next time you argue with a Christian. #SaintsOnX

You believe in an infinite regression of gods. A direct violation of the first commandment. Or is that a corrupted verse?
