in my opinion, the best way to avoid getting ticketed by a DC speed camera is simply not driving >10 mph over the speed limit. nobody is forcing you to speed! speed cameras literally save lives!

@Kinger_DC @andrewwimer One aspect that people sometimes overlook is delegation of police power to a for-profit company. I support profit incentives in business, but not law enforcement.

Airbnb doesn’t work this way, all they have to do is call customer support and it will get resolved or they’ll be moved to a different place if they want and get a refund. Airbnb doesn’t allow properties to just charge something extra for something like electricity as a surprise cost when they show up unless it was something clearly preplanned and preapproved

These women rented an Airbnb, the owner of the home demanded a $500 security deposit. The women reluctantly agree and they ask the owner if they will get the money back after they leave. The women clarify, and ask him if they will get the full amount they put down and if it worked as a true security deposit. The owner said no, they would only get some of it back because he uses the security deposit he charges to pay for the utilities that they consume, mainly electricity and gas. The women feel like they are being scammed and only want to pay for the day they were in it instead of an extended visit as they originally planned. If we stay at a hotel, we pay one price for the room, they don’t charge us for the water for showers and electricity to charge our phones. So do you think the owner was and has been scamming people with his security deposit?

If you really believed your church was true, why do you spend your energy attacking The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with half truths or lies? Wouldn’t trying to defend your “true” church be more effective than lying about ours? Your lies only make us stronger.

I am increasingly convinced that pure capitalism as a theory is just as unrealistic and unachievable as pure communism - and for very similar reasons (both severely underestimate human nature).

@marcorandazza The issue is choice, not the benefits of an HOA. People who want an HOA can choose an HOA. But people who don’t want an HOA are often stuck. Some municipalities require all new developments to have an HOA.

This is a super bad idea. For every nightmare you hear about HOAs, when I look for a home, I ask the realtor to find me places with the strictest HOA they have seen. I got fined for letting my car tires touch my grass, and I paid the fine and sent in a thank you. because fining me for that keeps Cletus T. Peckerwood next door from parking his 1978 trans am with no wheels on blocks in his front yard. Which keeps my neighborhood from eventually having a check cashing store in it.

@joyinbecomingp1 At 41 single... I feel like the church makes tons of efforts to reach out to us. I've never felt disrespected for being single. Maybe it's personal insecurity, or you're interpreting things negatively.

If I didn't love the gospel and had the faith I do .....I would leave the church because of how many members treat those of us who are single. I hate these questions and I really wish ppl would be more respectful.
