Hot take: Apple should reduce prices of its accessories like cases, chargers, cables, and things that don’t use any meaningful amount of RAM to help with the RAM situation

@JoshEdits Consoles and PC’s are the same thing. You’re just letting yourself buy the same product twice and falling for the separation illusion 😭

Real question. If consoles are $1000 and all the games are digital… Then what’s the point of a console?

@LuftkoppTim @OutofGalaxyy Very thin** actually. Basically the app letters and logos follow a specific set of rules varying from the box it lives in. It sucks right now because they’re trying to make Liquid Glass one size fits all, when it’s actually way more nuanced

@LuftkoppTim @OutofGalaxyy Keep in mind that each petal from the photos app, just like both letters and the Apple logo from TV have dark borders, cause they’re all treated like sharp, glass objects. The actual square of the app doesn’t follow the same rules. It’s way more blurred. No black edges there

As I said, it’s not the right representation of the occurring. And yeah, it will definitely not always be dark. That’s impossible. But it will be considered as darker, as the colors from around the icon concentrate in a thin border. So it would appear darker. I explained it wrongly before with being actually darker. My bad. I would also assume that it’s impossible to create a setting for where there is no black or dark color at ALL to be reflected to them be refracted into the glass of the icon, so Apple tried to base the constantly dark (wrongly black) border.

@app_settings Both Apple & consumers confused the feedback on what works and what doesn’t work. Idk who decided glass philosophy should only be one color: gray.

It only looks nice at the discretion of 1st party apps & developers. Apple should’ve tightened app logo guidelines. It was never a transparency legibility problem, it was, and still is, a color differentiation problem. Try making all your calendars one color, and tell me how that works for you

@erixstewart @markgurman AVP has does more than you think for Apple. It pioneered iOS features such as: • Liquid Glass • Spatial photos (v1) + photo capture • Eye tracking navigation • Gaussian splats (v2) • Siri real-time camera analysis (laying the foundation for glasses)

It’s here to stay for a long time and the best part is M2 still gets all the benefits that M5 is getting. Since its launch, they’ve been slowly making it the foundational influence across platforms and continuously receives QOL & functionality improvements. Apple has been showing that both M2 & M5 investments are getting their moneys worth

@neilcybart @KairockZ Thinking about this kinda makes sense. I wonder if the new products will keep these price tags and give some what of a buffer between now and September to increase Q revenue. And if customers buy after September, not the latest model, it benefits Apple still?

In an unprecedented move reflecting the worsening memory crisis, Apple has raised product prices mid-cycle across several product categories. Macs, iPads, TV & Home hardest hit. No change to iPhone, Watch, AirPods (for now). We haven’t seen anything like this in modern Apple.

Apple was finally forced to raise prices on Mac, and now they're once again terrible value over an equivalent Windows PC. MacBook Neo now starts at $699 without Touch ID, which is same price as the incredible Dell XPS 13 that's far more equipped at this price. MacBook Air 13-inch now starts at $1,299, which is $150 more than the Surface Laptop 13-inch with 16GB RAM. MacBook Pro now starts at $1,999(!!) which is a whopping $400 more expensive than the new Surface Laptop 8. Insane price hikes across the board.

@ChaitanyaOnTech I see it more as an accessibility thing. Instead of an annoying bubble on your screen, you just tap it and don’t have to hit another button. Your thumb will be closer to Siri/search throughout the software without being in the way (at least I hope it’s designed with this in mind)

I fear Apple may become like Microsoft in a bad way with their AI approach Like “Ask Siri AI” about the calculator app Or “Write with Siri” some may like AI writing but I don’t I love the new Siri AI but it doesn’t need to be embedded everywhere, if they want to go that route, give the option to disable Siri Ai in that specific part of the OS. Yeah I know its still a beta so its subject to change but thought its worth pointing out.

what’s funny is that many models are capable of already doing this by basic gesture control and x/y axis coordination but every company wants to prevent a lawsuit 🙄 we need better disclaimer agreements about consumers not holding AI liable about losing their data or hallucinating

I asked Siri to “turn on notifications for the Airbnb app” while driving, but she couldn’t. I wish Apple would put more focus on hands-free control of app settings like this, features that would actually make Siri feel useful day to day.
