Before people get excited about this issue - id ask them to focus on broader funding (and efficiency) of the system.

@fakeezzie @DuaneBratt It’s kind of interesting to see how politics seems to drain the normal human being elements out of the role …and then it’s refreshing to see the politician show us some of that personality. Maybe that’s a lesson for the future us.

I remember being told ad nauseum by friends & acquaintances in 2021 that it was impossible to lose money on real estate in Canada.
I wish I were joking but that is verbatim the language that was used & I still hear it from time to time. Generational reset in attitudes required.

@fakeezzie It sounds terrible, because I am a current Carney fan - but I want Poilievre to come around to a more inclusive reasonable, less pugilistic approach. This isn’t a bad start - and his speech, and subsequent Mansbridge interview was good. Buuut…lots of evidence to the contrary

I think Mr. Poilievre handled himself very well. When positioned next to Rogan, he comes off as quite reasonable.
BUT, you are not fooling anyone if you think this endorsement will move the needle with persuadable Liberal supporters, especially women. It's the Brosphere FFS.

Quebec's carbon price applies to diesel fuel. The federal carbon price does not. Truckers, from the perspective of carbon pricing, were consumers. The carbon price for consumers was zero-rated a year ago.

If Canada sees 800–1,200 long-haul food truck trips a day, a $110/tonne carbon tax means roughly $34M to $52M a year in carbon-tax costs on diesel alone. And that doesn’t include higher fuel prices themselves, clean fuel costs, refrigeration, or backhauls.
