The Australian government just arrested our most decorated veteran from the Afghanistan War for alleged war crimes. Ben Roberts-Smith was awarded the Victoria Cross for Australia after singlehandedly storming two Taliban machine gun positions by himself in order to save his own SAS team. And this is how we repay him. I spoke to an Australian Afghan war veteran who told me that the Australian government literally paid for billboards in Afghanistan offering to pay random Afghans to come forward with war crime allegations. What country on Earth would do this to itself? Tell me: When does the Taliban plan on holding war crimes tribunals into their own people? @AustinJustice Number 1 is the main driver of lower crime rates. The tech helps speed up the process but it is ultimately having a tough prosecutor that is willing to put criminals away that lowers crime.

San Francisco is now a model for how to fight crime.
A few years ago it averaged 86 car break-ins per day. Today: 15.
SF did two things:
1. Got a DA that prosecutes criminals: Following the successful recall of Chesa Boudin, DA Brooke Jenkins started prosecuting prolific offenders and said so loudly. Crime dropped every year since she took office.
2. Put tech to use: In 2024, SF activated 400 license plate readers and deployed 80 drones citywide. This tech feeds officers live intelligence on suspects in motion. Drones alone have assisted in 1,000+ arrests since then. The technology lets authorities solve crimes as they happen rather than depend on much more intensive, legally perilous post hoc investigations (which ironically are often more intrusive than using tech).
The results:
- Car break-ins down 85%
- Robbery down 30%
- Burglary down 33%.
- Homicides hit their lowest level since 1954.
Plate readers, drones, a prosecutor who prosecutes. That's the whole formula!
Austin has the opposite approach. License plate cameras are effectively banned. Jail bookings are down despite repeat offenders victimizing innocent people regularly. Bond violations went from 37 in 2020 to 250 last year.
SF proved crime is a choice. Austin, so far, keeps making a different one.

This woman woke up to the sound of rushing water hitting her house, she runs out side to see water pouring into her garage and flooding her home.
The gas company was running gas lines and struck a water main line. She filed a claim with her insurance company only to be denied due to flood coverage. The gas company isn’t taking responsibility for it either.
She has thousands of dollars worth of water damage and now mold is growing. Taking this to court could take months of years, what would you do if this happened to you?

It landed, kicked off the lens cover (other Venus landers failed at this point), took the picture of whatever was in front of it and then transmitted it along with whatever other info it had collected to the orbiting probe before it died.
