@martinohanlon This is NY. Many streets run on a diagonal. Looking at LA, there are plenty of N-S streets but New Orleans is a mess (Although nothing compared to UK cities.) I think it's all bullshit unless you're ordering a pigeon to be at a certain location.

In movies and shows, I often hear one character say to another "Sweep the north side of the building." or "Meet me on the east side of the parking lot." They do this without a compass. Honest question. Is there anyone who knows where geographic north is, when in a strange place?

It's more than just that. There's a genuine skill that is being developed in writing prompts for large language models to provide satisfactory results. I can imagine a future where there are job titles such as "AI communications specialist".
