@DefinitionsNew Besides government applications, as I say in thread, I do not think commercial orbital data centers or AI in space makes much sense yet. I think it will start with niche gov applications: Space radar, advanced waveforms, missile defense, EO interpretation, battle management, etc

AI is the Milli Vanillification of art. AI destroys the presumption that someone has put in a combination of hard work and talent to create something beautiful. Replacing that presumption with this one: maybe they put in work, but there's no way for me to know that, and they probably just wrote a prompt and pressed a button. And nobody likes "art" that they think took very little effort to create.

My favorite complaint from AI haters is: "you didn’t do anything, the AI did it." Name a single art form where you can create something without a tool. Following that logic, the pencil makes the drawing, the brush makes the painting, the chisel makes the sculpture, and the camera takes the photo. So the only art that deserves to be called art would be the one that exists only in the mind and is never materialized. The problem is, if it’s never expressed, you can’t even know if it truly exists. Schrödinger’s art.

It still doesn't make any sense compared to building giant PV arrays to power data centers on Earth? Elon's public reasoning is pushing for space because he has a grand vision for human expansion into the solar system and someday beyond. Which is laudable, but it's not the most economically feasible way to advance AI on Earth, and given the way AI is advancing (on the exponent) any number of years being behind the curve could be problematic, globally, for a multitude of reasons.

That said. If Space-x do get their design working - which includes Starship - it is promising for orbital data centers. They still need to figure things out for 6G. As they don’t have true earth fixed cells and their core is not integrated with the terrestrial tower NW core.

@zibaii227 Eventually it will: - know what you like - know what you want - be able to generate it on demand I am talking about long term future here. AI makes slop today. And will for a while. But what happens in 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 250 years?

The future of movies is something like this: You will have access to the greatest movie you've ever seen, every single night, and you may be the only person on earth who ever sees it. Is this dystopian? You be the judge.

I watched this the day of the IPO: youtube.com/watch?v=Y6GlS4… My gut was telling me all of that came off as generalized statements and nothing stuck out. The space station work doesn't seem like something the market is going to be very hyped about. The propulsion work for the interceptor system is all well and good, too, but how much of that is VOYG actually going to capitalize on? It left me underwhelmed and I go by my gut most of the time. They've followed typical post-IPO patterns (-50% since IPO) so I would be open to entertain being wrong about them, though. Always looking for a good story/entry.

@DefinitionsNew Care to expand on that? VOYG is primarily a defense-driven story today. Most of its rev growth is tied to propulsion and energetics supporting missile defense systems and interceptor programs.

I don’t hate the idea of $RKLB acquiring $BKSY, but not a fan either. If we're playing that game and looking for a public market target, $VOYG would stand out. Cheaper valuation and bigger upside. Many synergies. Less competition. Starlab, propulsion & energetics, plus early positioning in lunar infrastructure… Very mispriced at 1.5B market cap.

$BKSY $RKLB: The more research I do, the more I'm warming up to the idea that Rocket Lab *should* acquire BlackSky. There's tremendous strategic rationale and financial logic to a combination. If I was still an investment banker, I'd be pitching the idea to SPB and the board.

Last line is false. Because it includes "AI-generated responses" which includes the output of e.g. Gemini Pro. And if you've used Gemini Pro in the last, ohhh, several months, you'll note that it's incredible for basic research about things you're interested in. Much more pleasant than using Google search itself, in my recent experience. The anti-AI people are ignoring there is real utility and value buried in the slop.

Iran is the head of the snake for global terrorism, and through President Trump’s Operation Epic Fury, we are winning this critical fight at an even faster pace than anticipated. In response to Iran’s terrorist attacks against global energy infrastructure, the Trump Administration will continue to deploy America’s economic and military might to maximize the flow of energy to the world, strengthen global supply, and seek to ensure market stability. Today, the Department of the Treasury is issuing a narrowly tailored, short-term authorization permitting the sale of Iranian oil currently stranded at sea. At present, sanctioned Iranian oil is being hoarded by China on the cheap. By temporarily unlocking this existing supply for the world, the United States will quickly bring approximately 140 million barrels of oil to global markets, expanding the amount of worldwide energy and helping to relieve the temporary pressures on supply caused by Iran. In essence, we will be using the Iranian barrels against Tehran to keep the price down as we continue Operation Epic Fury. This temporary, short-term authorization is strictly limited to oil that is already in transit and does not allow new purchases or production. Further, Iran will have difficulty accessing any revenue generated and the United States will continue to maintain maximum pressure on Iran and its ability to access the international financial system. So far, the Trump Administration has been working to bring around 440 million additional barrels of oil to the global market, undercutting Iran’s ability to leverage its disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump’s pro-energy agenda has driven U.S. oil and gas production to record levels, strengthening energy security and lowering fuel costs. Any short-term disruption now will ultimately translate into longer-term economic gains for Americans – because there is no prosperity without security.

$ASTS I took a small profit on my CSPs today. Could have been more earlier in the week but that was then... and this is now. I am not bearish on the company but I am bearish on the market right now. Maintaining my core ASTS position and half in cash.
