So, I lived in the UK, and this is why I’ve spent so much time fixing this shit. This is what a cheese and onion sandwich should be (since I had my fair share of that crap)

It's impossible to explain to a Yank what Cheddar cheese is like. Their only reference point is liquidised knob cheese in a spray can. We should be mindful of their limitations.
British bread is actually bread and doesn’t taste like cake. British cheddar is actually cheddar and not gummy, processed cheese curd. Raw onion is full of flavour. There is nothing wrong with simple food and these cobs are delicious. Americans are apparently afraid of food
