@FullVerity Hillman is admittedly bonkers, but most of what he says adds up tremendously. It indeed wasn't Jewish nor Greek (though hints of both, sure), but had a lot to do with the Scythian-Sarmatian advance into Eurasia. You'll find deep Celtic, Norse and Egyptian influences among more.
