The grooming gangs scandal is one of the darkest moments in our country’s history - where the most vulnerable were abused and exploited by evil child rapists. The independent national Inquiry will now begin its work to uncover how these crimes were allowed to happen and root out failure wherever it occurred. A nearly-complete mural of slain Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska in Providence is being removed after Jewish Mayor Brett Smiley called for it to be taken down. “The murder of the individual depicted in this mural was a devastating tragedy, but the misguided, isolating intent of those funding murals like the one across the county is divisive and does not represent Providence,” said Smiley.
