@radioactivered One detail I forgot to mention about those AEC-recalled Rolex pieces is that I never found anything suggesting they had preexisting knowledge these particular ones will arrive laced with Sr-90 or just did random spectrometry for fun on wristwatches, they simply triggered some radiological check stateside it seems, even though the paint mCi/g figures were likely similar to any other RA paint of that time, that caught my attention as well. But once you look at them, it's trivial. Rolex used it on bezel rings. Dials always have a nice separation between them and outer surface of the crystal, but in those bezels, the paint is covered with what, maybe 1/16 of an inch of bakelite? So when someone put a probe against their face, since that's how wristwatch exposure is judged ofc, there was more brrrrrrrs than usual and nukenerds got nosey. Another obvious contributing factor to AEC calling these rings to be a work of devil himself could be that plastic bezel rings get smashed and chipped from wear all the time and they love to be assholes and break during replacements. You can tell just by looking at them that this style inherently triggered any specialist.
