Born in Mariental, Bloodstaan moved to Walvis Bay in 2006, where she worked as a domestic worker while using her traditional massage skills to earn extra income, charging as little as five dollars per session. After relocating to Swakopmund and later losing her job, she continued massaging clients full-time, mostly sportsmen and women suffering from body pain and injuries. Bloodstaan attributes her gift to her grandmother, who introduced her to traditional massage at the age of ten. Determined to improve her skills, Bloodstaan later enrolled at a massage school to perfect her craft. Despite years of experience and helping many people in her community, she says life remains difficult as she lacks proper equipment and operates from her shack in the DRC informal settlement. She now hopes for support from the community or businesses to help her obtain a massage table and improve her working conditions.
