People are way too conditioned to everything being "free" (however it's not free, you are paying for it with your data).
If you want high quality, open source, privacy respecting alternatives, stop complaining when they *optionally* ask for money.
I will be buying Brave Origin.

THIS IS SO HILARIOUS 😂😂
Journalist –– Are other countries helping the US navy blockade Strait of Hormuz?
🇺🇸 Trump –– "Yes, there are many countries"
Journalist –– Which countries?
🇺🇸 Trump –– "I don't need anyone's help. They are offering to help anyways" 😭
How can anyone contradict himself like this in just 5 seconds?

When thinking about Iran, or any other party, using bitcoin, the right question to ask is: should money work for anyone, even enemies? Or should it only work for allies?
If you think bitcoin is bad because Iran is using it, then please defend the proposition that money should only work for allies.

It's 2057. Bitcoin collapsed. Gold won. The world is back on sound money.
You sell your car to a buyer across state lines. They show up with 8 gold bars and a portable scale. You weigh each one. Looks right, but you can't verify purity on the spot. You send it to an assayer.
Results come back in 4 days. One bar is slightly under spec. You renegotiate. They drive back with a replacement bar. You retest.
Three weeks later, the sale is complete. You try to deposit it at your bank. They charge a storage fee.
You start wondering if there's a faster way to settle.
Something digital, verifiable in minutes, divisible to eight decimal places, and transferable anywhere on earth without a single intermediary.
Then you remember that existed once but we decided it was too risky.

The petrodollar was built on one promise: the US Navy keeps shipping lanes open, and oil settles in dollars.
Both broke this year.
Iran is now collecting tolls through Hormuz in Bitcoin. $1 per barrel.
Nobody is pricing what just happened.

@NickSzabo4 @Miles_High55 @policytensor Indonesian here. Indonesia have no meaningful military power whatsoever. All equipment are either outdated or not functional and the leaders are all retarded easily swayed by foreign influence
Malaysia leaders have more balls

Malaysia and Indonesia have a similar military veto power over even more important shipping choke points, should they choose to exert it. Several other medium powers are in the same anti-boat. The 21st century is a new world as far as the world's coastal states are concerned.
Any great power that wants to have global influence in the 21st century must start by wooing Indonesia, Malaysia, Iran, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Spain, Yemen, Somalia, the Philippines, Columbia, Nicaragua, and similarly situated medium or even lesser powers with geography and geology suited for securely hosting large missile and drone forces. Contrariwise, almost any country with a sufficient geography and geology will be able to protect its continental territory and littoral oceans from even great power maritime assaults.

What have we learnt so far? What are the surprises? What has been discovered about the shape of the world?
Here’s the five most important.
1 — The most important discovery is that Iran is a great power. This is a real discovery that was not known to the Iranians themselves; specifically, they could not be sure in advance that a strategic victory over the US was achievable. It is a fundamental discovery about the polarity of the system: there are now four great powers in the world and this structure will have very important consequences going forward.
2 — The idea that you can secure strategic objectives with the air weapon due to the precision-strike revolution has been debunked. The ‘combined-arms orthodoxy’ has been vindicated and proponents of strategic air war have again been proven wrong.
3 — We have learnt that Warden’s decapitation idea does not work against highly-institutionalized states. This was always the position of the serious scholars, but recent Israeli successes had sown some doubt about the thesis. These doubts have now vanished.
4 — We have learnt that a mature precision-strike regime is defense-dominant. Specifically, we have learnt that a great power can deny a global maritime power access to its near-abroad, curtailing the latter’s ability to project power.
5 — As a corollary of the above, the US command of the global commons is gone. The US is no longer a maritime hegemon that can guarantee access to even the most important chokepoint in the system. This is a development of great significance in the history of capitalism.
