@TuckerPoodleMA I also get a lot skinnier when I'm laying down. I can see things not visible when I'm standing.

If AI continues advancing at current rate, many middle managers, red tape enforcers, and do-nothing positions will no longer be needed
Many think they're intelligent for networking or using nepotism to acquire such position. These people do not, generally, have any true skills
These are positions that add nothing of value. They clog up the division of labor pipeline from producer to value added, to consumer. The middlemen that want a "fair share" for doing very little
The technology we're seeing today is only what we are allowed to see. It's very likely far more advanced than we're told
Will be very interesting how this issue will be handled by, ironically, some of the most vocal Hall Monitors 5-6 years ago. A redundant, unskilled segment of any population becomes a net drain on society given enough time. Some that sold the cure earlier this decade have mentioned there are too many humans
Frens should pick up a trade, hobby making things, or learn to add value to raw materials
Nothing career changing just spend a few weekends perfecting something
Then learn something else
Even repairing appliances, automobiles, and cabins

@CozyFrog That is what I feared. Bison fur is exceptional and the hides useful. I need to talk to a mutual in Texas who uses the fur to make garments and the hides too.

Well I got the extra rice ordered too…
I’m fixing to go out back to the canning stuff and check my sugar rations.
I just yesterday rattled off to Miss Bunny all the stuff I had put back, but then when I actually put a pencil to our normal rate of consumption I could see about the time this all this runs out we will all probably be knee deep in inflated shipping rates and prices on commodities.
So I really do think we all orta be thinking about that… No just how much we have now carrying us into summer, but on past that into this next fall/winter.
I’m not really set up to stockpile a lot of things as there’s no basement or cellar here - but like the stacking bean buckets is great. Goes in the closet. I get out of them what I need and put in my fruit jars on the shelf for the month. They are reusable sealed buckets with moisture/bug proof lids and stack. My rice each in its own Lundberg bag goes into a clear plastic tub in the closet too and a pack of each in my kitchen cabinet. It’s doable.
And the last time we had a mess, I had 100lb of imperial pure cane sugar I’d gotten for like $6 per 10lb and then it went up to $17, same with the coffee - and coffee now is already stupid high.

PSA : Fiscal Facts
I’m not trying to scare anyone but I just checked my (don’t laugh) dried bean inventory and though it’s on par normally I wouldn’t be slated to order again until late summer or early fall.
In lieu of the rising off road and road fuel prices and I’m personally not projecting that to stabilize for months (much less come down to for months) so idk how long we are going to be able to get “free” shipping on bulk items especially items that are still priced at 2025 fourth quarter prices when I’m already seeing prices rise.
This fuel issue is going to either drive the product price way up or it’s going to force “add on shipping”… OR BOTH depending on how much fuel was needed to produce the product itself.
So I went ahead and spent the money to buy my 25lb buckets while the price was still reflecting first quarter. It makes me physically sick as tbh it’s not money that I wish to gamble with - but my instinct is telling me to go ahead and do this.
I think if you can afford to it’s smarter to buy some bulk farm/field items now (rice beans sugars wheats) and hold them over than it is to gamble on maybe it costing double or more by the third quarter of this year. It certainly shouldn’t go to waste.
Side note* Palouse Brand only had five 25G buckets of their yellow split peas even left in inventory (and I took one of them).
Carry on…

@CrubersGate We need to restock alot of things. We aren't doing good financially either so it worries me even more knowing things can go south.

I took a class from a woman in my area who grows in a food tunnel like this year round. I want to build one. The 2 layers of cloth covers it in really cold weather works.

Spent a couple hours cleaning the chicken pen, spraying down everything to clean it, including their feeders and waterers. Changed the water nipples, etc. I then fill up about 20 gallons worth of waterers, they are absolutely pristine. Where do all the chickens decide to go get some water? The mud puddle I made washing their waterers.
