@OrthodoxGabriel Ah okay I gotcha, I enjoyed this conversation as well. I will reach out when I have questions. Thank you
English

I am not a practicer of orthodox Christianity, I’m a Bible Baptist however having said that I really respect the orthodox especially Eastern Orthodox. They are in my opinion way more aligned with Christianity than Catholics.

@Orthofox312 @DelusionPosting Damn ... Youre right!
Guess I gotta retire my monicker.
English

@RealBenLuigi It’s almost sad how watered down terms like “racist” or “Nazi” have people. Truly I have like no response to hearing them.
English

You have only two options:
1. Get called racist
2. Get ethnically cleansed
Choose wisely, anon. The future of our civilization depends on it.

@PlatoonGhost Of course, I don’t always speak with respectful people so it’s enjoyable. I will warn not to go too deep into rabbit holes too quickly. I do believe there are some traps, especially if you don’t have sufficient background knowledge.
English

@OrthodoxGabriel That’s so odd, hopefully I can find some good articles on. I thank you for the information in this and being patient with my questions
English

@PlatoonGhost As for the more recent splinter groups they are generally small, sometimes a single parish. Some come from more political positions (old vs new calendar), while others come from leaders refusing to accept punish or removal from leadership positions.
English

@OrthodoxGabriel So some of these groups are splinter groups? I gotta look into this, you’ve piqued my interest in all of this

@PlatoonGhost My wife and I both were atheist to Orthodox. Though I’ve met converts from nearly all backgrounds.
English

I respect it a lot and I have buddies who went from being atheist to orthodox and the transformation has been beautiful. My friend Brandon also speaks highly of his pastor who gives him great advice and it seems like the pastors really care about their congregation. I’m gonna check one out. I’m gonna look up the orthodox calendar which I just found out about, and I wanna be supportive of them
English

@PlatoonGhost I suppose we would say those are the same thing. There are some other groups called Oriental Orthodox that broke from the Church in the 5th century after the Council of Chalcedon. The other thing to look out for is schismatic groups “true orthodox” or “genuine orthodox”
English

@OrthodoxGabriel Maybe I will attended the pascha I’ll start looking for a church. Also what is the difference between regular orthodox and Eastern Orthodox?
English

@PlatoonGhost I never saw myself converting either, but there isn’t gonna be an external push trying to get you to convert (it’s not some instant process)
I believe the Orthodox make some large claims that are worthy to be investigated. I think Pascha is a beautiful service to attend!
English

@OrthodoxGabriel I won’t ever convert but I was gonna go to a service because I’m genuinely interested in what it has to offer.
English

@ShawnOnMission @Michael26433267 @McBrideLawNYC Regardless, I look forward to speaking more tomorrow.
English

@OrthodoxGabriel @Michael26433267 @McBrideLawNYC Ok so Orthodox Christian. That’s a start. You don’t need to read it if you believe God does exist. You told me to start square one so I started at square one.
English

@ShawnOnMission @Michael26433267 @McBrideLawNYC I like to read different lines of argumentation and their critiques.
I’m trying to make a higher level argument about your world view, suggesting that it’s inconsistent. Now whether we agree on a topic is different than our line of reasoning that got us to this point.
English

@ShawnOnMission @Michael26433267 @McBrideLawNYC I’m not a Catholic btw, I’m an Orthodox Christian so I will agree there are contradictions within the Roman Catholic faith.
I did see you gave a long response (I have been busy with classes today) but I aim to read through it and respond this weekend.
English

@OrthodoxGabriel @Michael26433267 @McBrideLawNYC Well actually I was baptized and raised Catholic. After actually reading the Bible I see all the pagan Romanism manmade additions that, not only did Jesus never intend to add, but actually contradict the Word of God.

Today I choose a physically healthy caffeine and a sort of spiritually healthy caffeine.
This is Yaupon tea. It’s an entirely different plant than Black tea. And it’s (I think) the only native caffeinated plant in North America.
But it’s very low in caffeine so gotta double or triple bag it!

stacker@stackerco
Today I choose a more physically healthy caffeine and a spiritually-gray-area caffeine. Yerba Mate is a tea but it’s not made from the tea leaves that are against the Word of wisdom. It’s the leaf of a tree in South America. Also the stimulant is mateine, which is slightly chemically different than caffeine. It would have been a little healthier brewing straight from the leaf, which I do sometimes. But this one tastes better.

@OrthodoxGabriel @Michael26433267 @McBrideLawNYC I can explain it perfectly but I’m just wondering how far I need to go back. So let’s go to the very start. Do you believe there is a God?
English

@OrthodoxGabriel @PetGorilla @BillArnoldTeach Go read the biography of Charles Chiniquy.. he was catholic and gave his life to Christ..
