The delusion that being big, fast, and strong equates to dominance is the biggest misunderstanding of football. You think athleticism is the ultimate stat, but you fail to realize that the US isn't even the most athletic country on earth.

I’m under the belief that if America’s best athletes like Randy Moss, Deion Sanders, LeBron etc played soccer their whole lives the U.S. would win literally every #WorldCup.

@PRIMEVAL_AXIOM @mj25kk @capitaljayhawk Better than Brazil is not what we say, but better. It would not be so surprising if USA made top 16 or 8 if soccer was one of the top sports here and we didn’t spend generations pricing the same base of players out that other countries look to develop (poor but gifted kids)

For me the biggest miss in American soccer isn’t the LeBron James’ and so on. It’s the countless Division 1 5’8-11 slot wide receivers/corner backs whose change of direction and agility would have been unstoppable on a score pitch

@Chels1an @Maximilien03 @VicOlorunfemi10 The thing is learning isn't enough, if you learn there are 100s of kids in Brazil being shipped out every year who were born with it, academies will choose them and ship your players who learnt it back. That's the argument.

@Maximilien03 @VicOlorunfemi10 "if you aren't born with it you don't learn it" isn't quite true, it's just that the window for developing the ability is very small and closes early more like if you aren't taught it between the ages of 3 and 12 you don't learn it

@Maximilien03 @VicOlorunfemi10 Pumpkin, if they were put in training camps and only played soccer from day one the cream of that crop would be unstoppable, not every one of them would be great with the ball but enough of them would.

@OCColordguy @DasEnigma31 @Maximilien03 @VicOlorunfemi10 They would be filtered out from the academy cos they aren't good, I've been to an academy, kids who look like they were born with a ball on their feet have been filtered out cos other kids were better, just starting out as kids doesn't mean you can compete with the big guys

@DasEnigma31 @Maximilien03 @VicOlorunfemi10 I don’t think there’s a reasonable person who would suggest an NFL DB/WR could lace em up & compete with a comparable athlete that’s played soccer their entire lives… but it’s fair to imagine how good someone like Barry Sanders would be if they prioritized soccer in their youth

@mj25kk @capitaljayhawk The reason why they are the best soccer nations is because a much larger percentage of their populations play in general. A large number of kids don’t get exposed to soccer at a young age here, or at least they didn’t when our generation was growing up.

@NvoRnoLeon @Elhijomayor92 They could answer in their native nations language. I’m just saying what the rules are for FIFA. Again, English is spoken worldwide. There’s reporters there from other nations. You think a reporter from Uzbekistan will speak Spanish? Maybe but its more likely they know English

@Elhijomayor92 Let's not make things difficult and speak a language that others understand. The South Africans never spoke Zulu when the tournament was in their country, not because they wanted to but because it was to accommodate others. So what makes y'all special, or are you just unfriendly?

Raphinha in the 10, luis Henrique on the right. Brazil 4-1 at the back keeping it safe and preventing deadly morrocan counters

The game started with raphinha in the left half space with vini wide and ibanez pushing high right and paqueta inverting, which was bizarre but alas, raphinha moves to the right.

Morroco's counter press is on another level, really elite. Extreme verticality (forward first mentality)

This is exactly the reason why your definition of world class is flawed, world class is a tittle given to a player based on elite numbers, consistency and longevity at the highest level, using that top 3 nonsense helps people sneak their favourite players in, exhibit 1
CounterPressers@CounterPressers

I have come to find out that Bukayo Saka is one of the most disrespected players playing the game. How can you deny his status as a top 3 RW today? This is a genius footballer, just look at what a 6/10 Bukayo Saka performance entails.
