every city name in California has three ways to pronounce it: (1) the Spanish way (2) the way an English speaker would pronounce it if they hadn't heard the name before (3) the way locals actually pronounce it, which is neither of the previous two. like San Rafell and Beneesha

@__apf__ California names are always pronounced as #1. They are pronounced by transplanted locals as #3 because they are #2 and just lived there for generations and are lazy. Actual locals have roots since it was part of Spain and Mexico and have and still pronounce the names in Spanish.

@DJSnM @__apf__ All linguists agree that the local pronunciation which is understood by the locals is the correct pronunciation. Most teachers are political activists and it's best to ignore them when they attempt to decrease our diversity of language and reverse our cultural integration

Core memory: Spanish class in high school when the teacher was ADAMANT that we use the "proper" Spanish pronunciation of our city. Everyone uses the spanglish pronunciation, including the Mexicans There was no problem. The community was integrated. The teacher created a problem.

liberals have to contort themselves into performative dance when analyzing right-wing memes to avoid redpilling their readers 💀

A new paper in Evolutionary Human Sciences examines race memes on x but doesn't reproduce the original memes so readers don't have to be exposed to racism when reading a paper about racism. Here are the "ethically modified" memes.

There's so much drama surrounding this girl, and it's not just about her looks, but her race and ethnicity. And then everyone is going to be disappointed to find out she’s Zhasmin Serikovna Begalinova. Huh, I have never heard a more Kazakh full name in my life. Honestly, I have been observing this trend of mixed-heritage births among the generation of Kazakhs born after independence more and more. I once dated a girl named Evelina Musabekova, but she looked like a blonde, blue-eyed German or Russian girl. I mean, these girls usually have Russian, Ukrainian, or German mothers (from Kazakhstan, not foreigners). That's all there is to it. And there are also plenty of guys whose mothers are Kazakh and whose fathers are not. I think that in the future, Kazakhs will become somewhat "whiter" (?) but whether that’s a good thing or not.

🚨The first openly transgender person elected to a US state legislature has been sentenced to 33 years in prison for child sexual exploitation. Stacie Marie Laughton's defense had argued for a lower sentence on the basis of his possible "retardation." reduxx.info/first-openly-t…
