And, if you make the number of lines you want to see initially, whether you want them from the beginning or from the end, and whether you want stderr and/or stdout, you can avoid all that stupid redirection and `head` / `tail` fiddling that agents do.

When coding agents read code or execute commands, the full output should be stored in a persistent object that the agent can later query by ID. This fixes the problem of re-running commands and re-reading files to look at different parts of the output.

I'm very very curious if eventually improvements to agents will make these instructions obsolete 🤔

After installing it, add this to your AGENTS.md: Always consult the local source code for information about Rust dependencies, which is guaranteed to be up-to-date for the correct version. Run `cargo path NAME` to find the source directory for a dependency.

I wrote a small program which makes coding agents dramatically better at finding Rust documentation. github.com/casey/cargo-pa… It's called `cargo-path`, and it takes a dependency name and prints the path to the local copy of the source code. 🧵
