@IGN We're not changing our minds either.
We need to spread the word. Encourage the entire gaming community to stop buying PlayStation products and cancel their PS Plus subscriptions for now. Let them feel the consequences.

One analyst suggested that even if half a million people cancelled their PlayStation Plus subscription in protest of Sony killing discs, it would be just a drop in the ocean for the company — which is not going to change its mind. bit.ly/4wRfo4P

@RinoTheBouncer Lets see how it turn out for them...

REPORT: Jason Schreier on PlayStation’s decision to end physical game media🚀
✅Sony considers their digital player base is large enough to do without those who continue wanting physical discs
✅They won’t change their retail distribution
✅Stores sell empty boxes with only download code
✅They’re convinced that over time, players will accept a 100% digital gaming future
✅They don’t think it’s necessary to maintain contact with fans
✅They trust the strength of their brand and the loyalty of their community, and imagine they will continue to support their digital games
Regarding profitability:
✅When Sony sells a first party physical game to a retailer, the retailer gets around ~30% of the sale price
✅Digital helps them keep 100% of it
✅They expect to significantly increase their profit margins
This is absolutely disgraceful to read if true. I’m genuinely repulsed by Sony💿

@Pirat_Nation How would people feel if they instituted a transferable digital license to lend to friends or resell? Like Adobe, I can use my license at multiple locations (work, home, and on the road), just not at the same time.

Sony is unlikely to change its decision to stop releasing new PlayStation games on physical discs in 2028, according to industry analyst Piers Harding-Rolls.
Speaking to Push Square, Harding-Rolls said he doesn’t see “any chance” of Sony reversing course.
He believes the company will simply “wait for this storm to pass,” because digital game sales are simply too profitable despite the backlash from fans.

@MattA1100
I don't think you understand the difference.
The difference between PlayStation (PS5/PS6) and PC is that PlayStation is a closed ecosystem, while PC isn't.
Sure, you can buy digital games on both, but on PC you also have GOG, multiple launcher options, and you can still play older classic games from DVD without needing an internet connection. On top of that, you can emulate games from older platforms.
PlayStation and consoles were originally meant for people who couldn't afford a gaming PC. That's one of the reasons consoles became so popular they offered a cheaper way to play games.
But nowadays, consoles are getting pretty expensive too.
So no, I think it's a much smarter choice to move to PC./or licht pc about 600 euro.

@otakuxuae @IGN Switching to an all digital platform to protest Sony going digital. Smart

PS5 owners are cancelling PlayStation Plus subscriptions in protest at Sony's controversial decision to stop releasing games on physical discs. bit.ly/4wRfo4P

@XanderXCIV That's true, it is pay-to-win, but you can also just play without spending any money on it. And if an offline you can stil play it whatever you want..Otherwise, the game will never be playable again, even if it was a live-service game. That's why I think there should always be a way to play it locally, with the community maintaining the servers, just like Pretendo does.
English

@_RemixProtocol_ @Pirat_Nation STFU! This is a shitty P2W mobile game. And an Offline Mode already exists: the REAL Mario Kart games. Go play any of them. Garbage live services deserve to die & only retards defend them.

Nintendo has announced that Mario Kart Tour will officially shut down on September 30, 2026 and the game will no longer be playable after that date.
As part of the shutdown:
>Paid Ruby sales have ended.
>Any Rubies players already own can still be used until the servers go offline.
>Gold Pass subscriptions are no longer available for new purchases or renewals.
Nintendo has not announced an offline version, so the game will become completely unplayable once the servers shut down.

English

@GobGuff @Pirat_Nation @GobGuff We weren't talking about Mario Kart 64... I don't really understand why you're bringing it up here. We were talking about ''Mario Kart Tour'', which won't be playable anymore after that date. You can't emulate it
English

@_RemixProtocol_ @Pirat_Nation The game was mid in the first place anyway. If you want Mario Kart on your phone just emulate Mario Kart 64 through Delta.

Mario Kart Tour launched September 25, 2019, and broke Nintendo’s own mobile records instantly, more than 123 million downloads in its first month alone. Within two years it had crossed 200 million downloads and $200 million in lifetime revenue. By September 2022, that figure was reported at $293 million globally.
The game’s most profitable mechanic was also its biggest liability. Spotlight Pipes, a gacha system with undisclosed odds, drew a class action lawsuit from a parent whose child spent roughly $170 through it, and Nintendo pulled the mechanic entirely in September 2022 under sustained pressure. A year later, in October 2023, Nintendo quietly stopped adding new tracks, drivers, karts, and gliders altogether, recycling old content indefinitely rather than announcing a shutdown outright.
That slow wind-down is ending now. Nintendo has set September 30, 2026 as the day the game stops being playable entirely, paid currency sales already cut off. A mobile spinoff that broke download records in its first month, generated hundreds of millions in revenue, and got sued over how it made that money is closing exactly the way most live service games do, not with an announcement, but with years of quiet decline before the final date finally lands.

@mariokarttourEN I'm so glad I didn't waste my time on this. You should've made it an offline game instead of an online game. This is honestly a shame.
Just make some effort and make sure it can be played offline.

What do you guys think about this??? also good exemple.
English

@HotMuk @mariokarttourEN You should have seen this coming... with live-service games and digital-only games, this is exactly why physical games are still important and stop killing games

@mariokarttourEN Offline version with all my stuff... I have paid for this!!!!!!!!!!!

@LostIn6969 @Pirat_Nation Trust me. It's never too late... They'd rather crawl back than lose their entire fanbase... just like Thanos did with his Infinity Stones.

@Pirat_Nation It's to late. From what I here they have already closed down and reallocated them for a different function.
