How does the new kid crashcat stack up against rapier, jolt, cannon? I just pushed "js-physics-benchmarks", a side-by-side comparison of performance and bundle size. my opinion: small game? crashcat! bigger game? whole engine in wasm, the barrier to entry is lower than you think.

I uploaded a new video with this Energy Shield with Hit Detection Free code. Fully customizable and easy to integrate. youtube.com/watch?v=v7tWJt… Repo + live preview in the description. The second half of the video includes a full shader breakdown #threejs #gamevfx

Evidence that chaos can be beautiful. Built with Three.js and GLSL shaders, this integrates dx/dt=sin(y)−b x, dy/dt=sin(z)−b y, dz/dt=sin(x)−b z. At b≈0.19 the Thomas attractor settles into a stable yet chaotic 3D geometry. 🔊

@__rockbiter Yes! I’m diving deeper into WebGPU and it’s absolutely amazing! I have no idea why I delayed it for so long. It’s so exciting! 🔥 I just shared the progress on my first TSL challenge. I’d really appreciate your feedback! 🚀

Jump in: space-drive.artcreativecode.com Mission: Convoy Escort Objective: Protect the Convoy Primary threat: kill tacklers that inhibit convoy warp. Combat flight: W/S thrust, A/D strafe, Shift for speed boost, Space for shield boost, LMB fire, R / mouse wheel cycle weapons.

@artcreativecode Static reactions and visuals are stunning! If you plan to expand, adding a tunnel effect for the spaceship when it moves (with long star streaks) would make it look cooler.

Spaceship #threejsjourney is coming. But what’s a spaceship without a force field? This weekend I turned fresh knowledge into pure energy: a parametric shield with state-driven animation that reacts to external impact. 🚀 Try it - link + details in thread #threejs #webgpu #tsl

@threejs #WebGPU demo update 🚀 Learned how to share nodes inside a material (so expensive math runs once). Profiling shows ~2× faster shaders. Added LOD + flight paths, and reworked weapon systems. Pick a route and try to take the ship down 🎯 force-shield.artcreativecode.com

@artcreativecode Do you know by any chance of webgpu stuff works in webxr, eg could they run on a quest headset standalone in the browser, assuming VR Setup stuff is added

Yes, I used selective bloom based on the emissive node (or an emissive map) using an MRT approach. I found that any object, even a fully transparent one, will block the emission. I had an invisible hitbox and spent a few hours before realizing it was the reason the bloom was missing. Putting the hitbox on a separate layer works, but I still need a way to handle transparent objects.

@artcreativecode We can have EVE online the same way that kids had RuneScape in early 2000s

@marcinignac Thanks, really appreciate your feedback! 😅 to be honest, in my case it’s more of a nice-to-have than a real problem. But in my previous demo, the HDR bloom had an issue: the emissive bloom in the nozzle disappeared at certain angles. Will dig into that later.

Great work! And also glad too see I'm not alone and that some problems are just hard and even #WebGPU + TSL + #Threejs combo still has issues like "hdr bloom doesn't go through transparent objects" (see top edge of the transparent screen). Been there yesterday in our own engine.

Are you using a server-authoritative architecture, or is it client-authoritative? In other words, do clients simulate everything locally and send state updates to the server for replication, or do clients send inputs/commands and the server runs the physics simulation and broadcasts the resulting state for everyone to render?

Bruno Simon's Threejs challenge devlog #5 Multiplayer. Thanks everyone that was here at 10 am for the playtest. For the first time, i'm not just making a game to experiment and learn. But i'm making a game I genuinely want to play ⬇️ for details #r3f #threejs
