How will the flower bloom in 2100? We collaborated with artist Annelie Berner to create a generative web tool that visualizes how the Circaea Alpina flower might evolve in response to future climate conditions. I've finally put together a v1 of full case study including info about data, algorithms, behind the scenes and whole look dev process. Video content to follow! #variablenature

@kiaran_ritchie How does one deliver 12GB of content without delivering 12GB of content? From my understanding engine is below 5% of AAA game size these days.

Who's building a new Unity-style engine with Threejs and Wasm? I could absolutely see a whole host of game types that would live comfortably in the browser and cut out all the hassle of stores/downloads/installs/updates.

Casually rendering ~a hundred million triangles, in the browser. All thanks to @sea3dformat's cool Nanite-style renderer for @threejs. I've added GLB-to-meshlet and PBR rendering to it, very exciting to see where this is going!

@hybridherbst @googledrive From company whose submit button in Google Search AI mode sticks out of screen in mobile Safari... I guess that's what you get if you ship agentic code to production.

@andreintg I'm working on my own SDF modeling tool but with a lot of advance feature I will give beta test invitation soon.

Lets make a 3D gun for a first person shooter, full video, no cuts 💥 Btw guns suck, #threejs is nice, use that instead ☮️

I embedded an agent + API into my procedural modeller. This was a 'log cabin' it made. I'm honestly impressed - not a bad first attempt. Prompt and output in the comments

I'm making insane progress with my web based procedural modelling tool. 🌱 We have transforming and extruding faces in. These operations in the viewport also automatically insert the relevant nodes into the graph to keep it non destructive.

@superligious So much hype but no explanation why? Would you mind sharing what's in it for people like me who don't do react native?

@superligious @SimonHarrisCo I almost cheered for Copperfield sounding very rusty 🦀 but then i realised copper does not rust because it's not iron. 🤔 Still a cool name.

Lots of shared feelings and struggles here! "Some of us still measure the work by what it felt like to make it." "I’m not a fan of the current state of social media. They expect you to post every day, show your process, talk to the camera, engage with everyone. The stuff you create doesn’t even matter. I don’t want to post stuff with my face talking nonsense about my art just because algorithms like it."

UK Elections results are coming so a bit of archive refresh with this UK Election Map I did for @thetimes 16 years ago (!). marcinignac.com/projects/uk-20… My first major dataviz project and one of the reasons why I'm UK. Still doing dataviz these days but those where the prime years, and so much energy about what's possible.

Living surface. One of my favourite things i've ever made. Completely procedural with initial modelling together with @SimonHarrisCo in Houdini but then brought to life and simulated in WebGL. [2020]

@marcinignac This was the Houdini render that inspired it, so much gold on that project

Thank you for sharing that point of view. I've been in "more things faster" camp so far but they all felt shallow and cheap as they didn't feel "earned". Turns out again that process does matter. Maybe stepping back and thinking more us better way to re-invest this gained time indeed.

I’m feeling an increase in reflectiveness here lately. In stead of thinking I can finish something twice as fast I use the saved time to take it slow. Think things more through. Breathe. Do other things that feed back into my work indirecty. I think our culture could benefit if this approach was normalised

I believe using the increase in efficiency from AI to do all the same things, only faster, is a waste of opportunity. We should invest the time we save on implementation in making better choices. We desperately need people to start reflecting more deeply about what it actually means to produce something of value.

Strange attractor connectivity (2020). Another reason to start moving our engine to WebGPU this year: HDR support (here is only HDR tone mapped to SDR)
