X has a massive spam/bot problem- you can see 50 random accounts per day all posting the exact same ad, block them all, and have to do it again the next day. Now X is making it worse by giving you this pop up every time you block an ad account. Atrocious. Fix it, @elonmusk

So interesting that the #LDS Church lawsuit against John Dehlin defines the issue as taking away the @Ch_JesusChrist's consumers, which sounds more like a corporate for-profit issue than a religious/church issue.
LDS Abuse@ldsabuse

When they tell you who they are, believe them the first time. The lawsuit filed by the corporation pretending to be a church against John Dehlin is about goods and services, consumers, and the marketplace. They say so themselves. It’s about money.

@stackerco No one was more critical of sanctimonious lawyers than Jesus of Nazareth. And I don’t imagine he would take kindly to a claims that the Gospel is their intellectual property.

The most alarming thing here is not the lawsuit from the church but the comments. It’s wild to see ordinary members in the comments instantly defend a $300B institution trying to legally pressure a 21-year-old podcast over the word “Mormon.” A word the church itself aggressively distanced itself from and removed from every single brand asset. Nobody seriously thinks Mormon Stories is an official church production. But once the institution says, “This is about protecting the Church,” the reflex and groupthink kicks in: *Defend the Party. *Attack the dissenter. *Treat criticism as persecution. *Pretend obvious control is just “brand protection.” That’s the real story here. And it fits with the church’s message as of late: Loyalty, obedience, and endure to the end.
stacker@stackerco

You are a moron if you think Mormon Stories in any way shape or form is associated with the LDS church. Especially today as the church has distanced itself from being called “Mormon” A desperate Scientology like move to silence its critics.

@iiTzz_Tyrell “Hot drinks” means coffee and tea but doesn’t mean hot cocoa even though it’s a hot drink; also, iced coffee and iced tea are still “hot drinks” even though they’re not hot. But soda and energy drinks are okay because it was never about caffeine?

Brian Jacques explains why he does not have sympathetic villains in his Redwall series: "When I was a boy, morality was taught in school and in church but I think that is no longer true to the extent that it used to be. I try to create very clear moral signposts of what is right and what is wrong. The children who read my books are generally at an age where they need to have things spelled out in 'black and white,' without ambiguity. I often tell my readers that my baddies are bad and my goodies are good. I won't have sympathetic baddies and schizophrenic goodies in my books." Should more writers do this?

@mom_of_littles That’s kid lunch (and nothing wrong with it, grilled cheese is mmmm), but if you make it a BLT with a thin layer of mayo and cheese; you have protein, carbs, vegetables, fats - all boxes checked and he can still have tomato soup and crackers on the side.

Sorokin's team analyzed over 100,000 paintings and sculptures across eight European countries from the Middle Ages to 1930. Before the tenth century, 81.9% of all art was religious. By the twentieth century, 96.1% was secular. An inversion that reached near-total dominance. Art went from serving God to serving the market.

Harvard's first chairman of sociology, Pitirim Sorokin, spent decades analyzing every major civilization in recorded history to answer one question: Why do great cultures die? His answer, published in 1941, predicted almost everything happening today. Down to the collapse of the family, the death of art, and the rise of tyrants. Maybe even the popularity of TikTok. @MeJohnson13743 @Voyager_Dos @MericaCulture No, you can clearly see that the newspaper headline is “below” and these are full-page ads. It may be $99 instead of $.99, it’s hard to tell. He’s reading it face up to him, but to us it looks upside down. But if you flip it, you can see what the page looks like headline on top.

@stackerco Although many denominations practice “tithing”, even the groups that argue it’s mandatory don’t have a concept of “back payments”. They’d just say, “if you’re not doing it now, start”. But back payments / settlements may probably be uniquely LDS.

Members and believers of any denomination. If you were behind in tithing 💵 to your church, and you were broke with only a car, would you sell that car to have enough money to make the back payments?
