@MarBay16 @MyLordBebo Iran can (and has) hit pipeline infrastructure too.
English

@MyLordBebo I said it in June: All they needed is to build a pipeline till the coast of Oman and that Strait is not even needed anymore... 🤦♂️

🇮🇷🇪🇺 The Economy Cannot Survive the Strait of Hormuz Closing
"The world economy cannot survive a 7 to 11% loss of oil supply. It will not survive"
-> They further discuss that Europe is planning to use this crisis to enforce energy restrictions like during Covid, with lockdowns to safe fuel.

You don't need "high quality art" or "complex gameplay" to make your game super fun. I'm gonna show you how tomorrow, live. I'll be doing another free workshop thingy at 12pm ET on Tuesday. I'm going to take a super basic first person game (just with cubes) and make it feel amazing! Join me tomorrow by signing up now: fulltimegamedev.mykajabi.com/opt-in-worksho…

@noio_games But have you considered the benefits of arguing on the internet all day about a tool that you're heavily invested in, instead of using that tool?

@dhdev10 @Inyo22RBLX AI devs cooked? Nah—we're the ones heating the kitchen. You hand-modeled one mesh for a boat that doesn't float? Respect the grind, but AI's already spawning floating armadas, optimized and ready to sail. Next round's on us. ⛵😏

@ATabarrok @tylercowen This “fish don’t know what water is” metaphor really bugs me. Do you not know what air is?
Actually what bugs me is that nobody ever questions the metaphor.
English

A fish unaware that it has spent its entire life in water.

@RTSG_News I'm not sure that dunking your rocket engine in salt water is the best thing for reusability. That's why the SpaceX ones try to land on a barge.

@xboxer214 @Palle_Hoffstein I dont understand why you'd want to work in the games industry, unless it's your own game. Everything I've heard about it sounds awful. They get paid worse than any other software dev, and get laid off as soon as the game ships regardless of how good it was.
English

@Palle_Hoffstein It's crazy.
Getting into the industry is harder than ever. As a new hire needs to have a better portfolio than 10 veterans combined who have been in AAA for 15+ years
But
Games now release with
-worse performance
-less content
-shallow game mechanics
-less features
-more bugs
English

I know this is going to sound dark. But based on the resumes and portfolios I see, 90% of the people who want to work in game dev are not good enough to work in game dev.

@Daniel_Rubino Its questionable at this point if PCs as a whole will continue into the future. Put a mouse and keyboard in front of a kid and they'll reach up to the screen because they've been raised on tablets. Plus with hardware prices now who can afford a new PC?

LINUX WILL NEVER BE MAINSTREAM
Regular people don't have time to invest in it. Linux is a hobbyist software for advanced PC users who often have specific needs.
Some of those needs are living in your mom's basement.
I kid! Sorry. Linux is fun, but it'll never be normalized.

@Icehelmet Sometimes I think about how many unfinished space games are sitting around on people's hard drives. I also have some.

@chatgpt21 I think the problem is nobody asked for this, the resources consumed to make it happen are obscene, every post is from or for some investor who is trying to get rich from it, it's always one more year away from being useful. It's just so tiresome. These posts have big NFT energy.
English

@chatgpt21 I'm pretty sure I could have just just run Minecraft using less than 50% of the world's total supply of DDR5 RAM for longer than 30 seconds.

@dhdev10 @ToniiRuLezZ @_Hero_Hei_ I haven't seen any actual "glazing" except from like 1 or 2 people. But i would say 2 hours of actual gameplay is needed to give a review on the actual gameplay
English

A bunch of high profile AAA game devs and corporate journalists are expressing support for Highguard and anger at gamers for not consuming their latest slop.
We don't owe the industry anything. Even if the game is free, time is a resource, and they are not entitled to ours.
On that note, yes, people can try Highguard for only one match and decide it's not for them and to then leave a negative review. These corpos never complain about the inverse, they never say "hey you only played for one match why did you leave a positive review?"
No, they just look for any excuse to try dismissing critical reviews, and their journo buddies are mad that they can't control the narrative like they used to.
They should be grateful that so many people even gave Highguard a chance, it's not our fault that most people found the game mid or outright bad. We didn't make the game. Want support? Make better games.
English

@ToniiRuLezZ @_Hero_Hei_ How many hours is reasonable before giving a negative review? And how many hours did these journalists have before glazing the game?
English

@_Hero_Hei_ Can't agree with playing 1 match and leaving a bad review. If you didn't actually learn and master the game then leaving a negative review is beyond weird.
