Why go to an Evangelion maid Cafe in Japan when you can just go to a burger joint in South America?

very simple solution would have been for nolan to make a FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS/LETERS FROM IWO JIMA-type double feature to avoid this criticism. clint wins again.

Just saw OPPENHEIMER, an in-depth character exploration of the people who built the atomic bomb, a weapon of mass destruction that killed a quarter million Japanese civilians. Film is 3 hours long and features zero Japanese people.

@Evanryt Never understood why people have it so high on their lists. It's not bad, but far from his best.

The Prestige has gotta be one of the bigger "wait people actually like this?" movies of the century. Just an absolutely dour, miserable movie.

@useful_noise They'll never admit that they liked it just to be "on brand" for their failing YT channels.

@MysteryRoomMKE @DistroKid Loudness wars will never end.. On a side note, what's stopping streaming services from creating unique ID's for an artist/band so you don't get 5 different bands with the same name in your search or artist page? Does Spotify still do that unless you complain to them?

Does this thing support an external monitor? Trying to justify the purchase as RT4K testing. 🤡

Whatever happened to Dylan Ettinger? Revisiting this skronky smoky synth banger from 2012.. felt like he had so much momentum and then disappeared after this record afaik

@BenShh1 Different eye levels can create confusion and varying level of dominance or basically anything really, so it probably was an artistic choice

lot of wonky editing in the conversation scenes in Dead Reckoning. we can all be adults and admit this right? i don’t see an artistic reason that the eyelines shouldn’t match

@diabolikdvd Amazon US shipped my Arrow Enter The Video Store box in a crappy bubble mailer. Every corner dented, but thankfully not destroyed. Will probably never order a box from them again

While it's true that IMAX 70mm is only available at 30 or so locations worldwide for Oppenheimer, there's a great deal more for standard 70. See it on celluloid if you can, and support analog presentations. in70mm.com/news/2023/oppe…

@jlalibs @tc7793 Before COVID, buying from Amazon UK (even with shipping) or buying direct was often cheaper than buying US versions, often with superior transfers from Arrow/Eureka etc.

@tc7793 If you import via stores in the US, it’s often not expensive, I didn’t pay more for either of the UK discs than I regularly spend on something from Criterion. I’d understand the cost issue more if the US company was inexpensive, but that’s not really the case.

spent years witnessing collectors decry region locking on dvd and Blu-ray only to get a format that doesn’t region lock (99.9% of the time) with UHD yet people are still excited when a US label announces a title that had a great UK disc recently like VIDEODROME or DON’T LOOK NOW
