@fette_a @TheBreakdownAB This is exactly why MAID keeps expanding. Once death is accepted as a solution to suffering, the argument is no longer about limits. It's about which suffering qualifies.

@fette_a @TheBreakdownAB I guess we’re at an impasse. You accept the state authorizing doctors to end lives. I don’t. Medicine should care, treat, and preserve, not kill. To be blunt, MAID makes me sick. State-sanctioned death is still euthanasia, no matter how it’s framed.

As much as it might want to, the government can’t ban kids from social media. All it can do is ban everyone — unless and until we ‘show our papers.’ No.

The west overall is locking down the internet. I'm a Con too but I think if they were in government for a few years, they would start age verification too

I've been realigning my workflow so I compile all my software from source in case repos have to enforce age verification later and have built my own private intranet

I run a similar setup like that for my household by default but I'm the exception and it frustrates me that so many people won't know the difference. I'm going to help advocate and show others at least though. Pfsense and openwrt are free.

@initseven @Weird_Canadian @KMLOnt At that point the government's desired effect on the internet at large has been achieved. Only a statistically insignificant number of people will be capible and willing to go that far.

@BigMickThePrick @Weird_Canadian @KMLOnt Even that's not as effective as they would have everyone believe. Enforce strict DoT and combine it with a VPN. I'm not saying the government and ISPs don't have the tools, but it can be made to become too expensive to run that level of inspection without more cause.

@Weird_Canadian @KMLOnt The government is already passing legislation to control information at the ISP level. Ultimately the government will win this.
