Will state attorneys general allow their cities to make energy policy? That's the question I ask in my latest column discussing climate lawfare currently being waged by blue cities and counties across the country: civitasinstitute.org/research/will-…

While America achieved energy independence, California chose dependence. → $6 Gas ($2 higher than national avg) → Electricity up 96% in a decade → Jet fuel prices in LA up 50% → Refineries needed for basic infrastructure shuttered. More in my @newyorkpost piece w/John Yoo

@mctoth @newyorkpost @nypost @UT_Civitas Wonder why CNN and others are missing this. Not like the last POTUS candidate for the Dems was from CA, or a current candidate (unannounced) is the current Gov of CA, or that all the wacky reps and Sens that push their CA agenda are on their airwaves.

Ahead of a Paramount-Warner Brothers Discovery shareholder vote Thursday, California AG Rob Bonta and Hollywood royalty are dialing up their opposition to the deal. Don’t buy it. As I write in @NRO, the Paramount-WBD deal is about survival, not monopoly power.

On Friday, the Supreme Court handed down an important and unanimous 8–0 ruling in Chevron USA v. Plaquemines Parish. Justice Thomas’ straight-talking, twelve-page opinion provided clear legal analysis. On the bottom line, the justices were unified, and another attempt by the climate lobby litigation machine to weaponize the courts was blocked. More on this victory in my latest for @NRO 👇🏻 nationalreview.com/bench-memos/ju…

Among other things, the local news piece doesn’t mention that judge who handed down a $745 million verdict in one of these cases received campaign contributions from the plaintiffs' attorneys. Check out Richard’s excellent rundown 👇 wlf.org/2025/11/19/pub…

A New Orleans public radio station suggests that federal judges can't be trusted to hear oil & gas cases. As my @UT_Civitas colleague Richard Epstein points out, the real problem is with the judicial irregularity in the local court process.

"Full-spectrum" education choice has the potential to close wealth gaps, expand access to tutoring and enrichment, and give every American a real stake in their own human capital. @DanLips and @mctoth on what that looks like in practice 👉 nationalaffairs.com/publications/d…

🚨 Just In: The Supreme Court ruled 8-0 in Chevron USA v. Plaquemines Parish, with Justice Thomas writing the majority opinion. Judge Oldham's dissent is vindicated. Yet another scheme by the climate lobby to weaponize the courts and forum-shop has been thwarted. Chevron will now get its day in court before a more neutral federal judge.

SCOTUS has unanimously ruled that Louisiana coastal erosion claims dating back to WWII must proceed in federal, not state, court. I previously wrote in @CivitasOutlook that these claims are "a poster child for federal removal." The ruling is a win for fairness & common sense.

Commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Justice Clarence Thomas spoke at the University of Texas at Austin on why the Declaration must be upheld in the highest regard—and the ideas that conflict with its principles.

In the last 30 years, the number of public companies has been cut in half. The situation has gotten so bad that the Wilshire 5000 index, founded in 1974 to track the broadest portfolio of all US publicly traded stocks, now listsonly about 3700 stocks! In my latest piece in @washingtonpost, I explain how frivolous class action suits by trial lawyers have contributed to that problem and how the Supreme Court can strengthen public markets by curbing abuses of securities law. The losers--ordinary Americans who have fewer options for investing their retirement savings and the American economy which has less opportunities for growth and innovation.
