I thought about these men a lot over the past day. I keep coming back to the fact that it's the men we sent to fight when civilization needed saving. In most world conflicts, women have served only if they wanted to. Men are bigger and stronger, so we expect this of them. I think of other times I've been witness to disasters - fires and hurricanes - and truth be told, it's mostly men risking their own lives to save strangers. I remember when I was a kid and hundreds of cars got stuck in a muddy field during a downpour at a state fair: it was the men who spent hours in the driving rain pushing them all free while we stayed in the cars with our mothers. We expected them to do that, too. Every day, when I call out male violence against women or object to men in women's spaces because of safety concerns, I get a few men jumping into my mentions to accuse me of hating all men. But women know it's not all men. We know it's not even most men. We just can't tell the good guys we don't know from the predators until it's too late. Men shouldn't think that just because we have to be wary of male violence, that we don't appreciate all that so many men have done, and continue to do, to make the world a better place for all of us. Most of us have fathers, grandfathers, brothers, sons, boyfriends, husbands and male friends we love and appreciate. We really do know that most men are good people.

@Lfromthenorth I try to be nicer or more understanding to the clearly autistic or mentally disabled people who identify as trans. Some of them probably have agp but they often also have a lot of other mental health issues that the medical associations gloss over in their quest to "affirm."
