Warning to Polymarket LP'ers 🚨
I lost $3,411 due to a Polymarket "glitch"
Here's what happened & how you can avoid it 👇
> As always, I was placing Limit Orders for various LP reward pools to earn rewards (nothing out of the ordinary)
> One of the orders I placed was for 15,000 shares of
AFC Bournemouth v Leeds United FC: O/U2.5 the day before the game
> Every night at around 12:00am UTC, I check my limit orders & close all of the Sports related ones earning LP rewards & any others I don't want open
> I do this by looking at the "Open orders" tab on the LP rewards page & in my portfolio page
> Any open orders I have, I click the "X" on the LP page or red "Cancel" button on the portfolio page & I always wait until they are gone without a cancellation error showing
> I made sure no unwanted limit orders were open when I went to bed
Fast forward
> It's the day of the game, while I am at work away from my laptop, 8,000 shares of AFC Bournemouth v Leeds United FC: U2.5 are filled for $3,360
> The remaining 7,000 shares don't go through due to something that appears to be an issue with the blockchain transaction
> I was not active on my laptop so couldn't see the supposed-to-be-cancelled order being filled
> The event happens & I lose $3,360
Fast forward again
> I come home from work & see the hidden Limit Order that was filled
> I immediately raise a support case with Polymarket
> The automated support bot then tells me this can be a "display glitch" where an order can be sitting on the book, fill & it doesn't show me the order being open until after it is filled...
Long story short, keep an eye on all of your Limit Orders & be aware there can be a display glitch, double refreshing & closing/re-opening the Polymarket tab might help
The Polymarket team is actively looking into this issue so hopefully they fix it for everybody moving forward
