@Mihoda @nntaleb Thanks for the reminder! I haven't looked at this lately. I don't know how homogenous the mining machine efficienciws are at the moment, or their distribution. Large private mining companies or pools might be able to help with the latter.

@nntaleb Organ of Corti @oocBlog was doing research on the hash efficiency of miners a few years ago and might know the distribution better.

Friends, another question. What is the fixed or floating floor for #btc below which miners have no incentive to maintain the ledgers?

Bitcoin hashrate has dropped by ~45% over past 3 days, presumably due to Chinese miners relocating equipment for the dry season. Hopefully in coming years the semi-annual hashrate fluctuations will decrease in volatility as China's share of hashrate continues to drop.
