The American people knew then... and they know now. Yes, the price spike was a decision imposed on us by the sitting President. This was a choice that he made, without our input. Let's not gaslight. Let's not "other guy did". It is what it is.
Lydia Moynihan@LydiaMoynihan

Just a reminder: The media said it wasn't Biden's fault when gas prices spiked because they're "set globally" — they called it "Putin's price hike." When prices were low under Trump, they said he "doesn't deserve credit" because presidents "can't control gas prices." But now that prices are up under Trump they’re happy to blame him.

Iranian oil has been sanctioned for many years. The 140 million barrels he is referring to are part of the "dark fleet" that has been shipping Iranian oil to Asia (mainly China) for years. Iran gets money for oil, and China buys it at a discount. So, this oil already exists in the world market. It doesn't matter who buys it, or under what scheme (sanctioned through a dark fleet or legitimate open market sale), as a barrel sold anywhere, for whatever reason, adds to world supply. To emphasize, these barrels are already part of the world supply. These barrels are not randomly floating in a tanker on some ocean (for years?), waiting for sanctions to be lifted before they can be sold and offloaded. By allowing oil to be unsanctioned, all Bessent is doing is allowing Iranian oil to be sold to places like Japan or South Korea. In other words, all he did was raise the price of Iranian oil because they now have more bidders. He just made Iran wealthier and did nothing for the price of crude oil.

@DavidBCollum I don't understand how people can not understand this. If a foreign country attacked the US, dominated our military, blew up some vulnerable people along the way... they would be faced with tens of millions of scattered armed residents who are pissed off that they are here.

BTW-For those who think there is no doubt the US can simply overpower Iran, don't forget that we lost a war in Vietnam fighting against 100 lb guys in pajamas and sandals. Never underestimate home-field advantage. They have nowhere to go.

Just a thought: Iran shows that it can send the global economy into a bridge abutment. Next time some small country in the Middle East decides to attack Iran, they get stopped cold by every other country in the world. Problem solved for Iran.

@thirdgenwidget Definitely true. Idk how they can avoid an absolute blood bath though. Maybe I’m too cynical but I do feel that one in my bones.

Everything we thought we voted for 16 months ago is dying with each bomb dropped. So, when the history books ask what happened to the magnificent Trump 2024 coalition and agenda, we will be able to decisively say that it was murdered in Iran.
Widge@thirdgenwidget

@jimiuorio Aside from the destruction and expenditure, what really pisses me off about all of this: They rolled the dice on the entire 2024 election agenda on this move. They've actively purged the coalition of dissent and screwed us all with these known consequences... without explanation.

@TaoistTrader I’m going to be pissed if we lose our congressman… the notion of this 60/40 area being represented by a Dem is hard for me to grasp.

@thirdgenwidget Well if things keep circling the drain pretty soon it will just be impeachment talk 24/7. And then impeachment action

@thirdgenwidget Economics was the big one for me and cheap energy was a big part of that. And it’s poof gone. And I don’t even understand why we decided to let the cat out the bag. I can speculate as to why but what does it matter at this point.

@web3brian We saw masks come off in 2020-2022… really seems like they are tearing more off in 2026. For all of the hand wringing about learning our lessons about these wars… We didn’t. It’s 2003 and I’m just too damn old and been too damn burned to play along, again.

@thirdgenwidget Yeah. Also, I was just thinking yesterday, how odd it was when the "Biden regime" always had their studio like appearances, literally looking like a stage, many times. We're living in the Truman show.

@thirdgenwidget No prob man. I wasn't sure which part you meant about being "real". The part of the vid people are saying is AI, or the transcript. Either way the whole thing is bewildering. What a time to be alive
