I routinely live on 5.5-6 hours of sleep. Feel perfectly fine. Make progress in the gym. Focused at work. Once a week I might get 8 hours and feel completely cooked. Make it make sense 8 hours per night is a psy op

Fair enough, I misread then. 2 sets per exercise is reasonable as a low end. 25 sets isn't necessarily junk volume, there is strong research showing that adding volume tends to increase hypertrophy even to a ridiculous number of sets per week. But you're right that most of the gains come from far fewer sets, maybe 5-10 per week. I think I'm tired of the "low volume high intensity" crowd claiming it's superior for hypertrophy, just because Mike Mentzer or whoever their latest hero is trained like that. It's reasonable if you're not bothered about being as big as possible, and want time efficiency however.

@tris_does_stuff @metabolic_print I don’t think he’s suggesting 2 sets per muscle group per week. Just per exercise. Nobody needs 15-25 sets per muscle group per week. That’s ridiculous junk volume. The extra gains are so minimal with that much volume and possibly detrimental to recovery.

@imranye @StlPercy Claude is not that good per dollar? You get like $5k worth of inference for $200 on their plan. Same with codex, you get way more tokens per dollar than the API would allow.

Seed oils: Are they even correlated with bad health? I assembled ALL of the available NHANES data and linked as much as possible of it to the National Death Index and found that... It's not. Seed oils aren't even correlated with problems.

0 calorie sodas are WORSE than normal ones. At least your body knows what REAL sugar is. Ray Peat shortly spoke about this at length.

@tris_does_stuff @coastbrah I dont use personal anecdotes as evidence. Whats the evidence on the things you are saying? Theres a well known phenomenon calles Cephalic Phase Insulin Release, wich will make you spike your insulin for nothing, also you are claiming ozempic improves health? Sources?

Insulin secretion is overwhelmingly regulated by blood glucose. Case in point, I can drink a diet coke in the morning fasted and not get hypoglycemia. Secondly, insulin secretion isn't bad. GLP-1 agonists cause mild insulin secretion, and they are proving to improve health in nearly every metric imaginable. Cite your "plenty of studies"

@tris_does_stuff @coastbrah It is a known fact that sweet food encourages your body to produce insulin, and theres plenty of studies that demonstrate that artificial sweeteners worsens a lor of insulin related issues. Theres nothing "Peat" about consuming industrial chemicals from china.

@Miguel98420565 @coastbrah Not only can you not explain mechanistically why something like sucralose would "create insulin resistance", you can't show any large scale human RCTs that show this either

@badlogicgames have a hilarious thread imploring codex to not prefix its branch with “codex/“ explained why it’s totally possible, it agreed, but said it can’t at some point had to just respect the sheer commitment to whatever instructions it had 🫠
