please get rid of "malediction" and replace it with kodoku change "shred" to chigiri and the rest of the english names should be jp owl to fukurou, crow to karasu, banquet to en, play to yuu, and all of magatsumi's abilities too or just TL everything hate the inconsistency

@Artispheria Also some blades have English translations for their abilities (crow, owl, malediction) which are great bit I also like the Japanese names (suzaku, yui, Mei, nishiki) it doesn't feel constrained and saying they have to be eng/Jap is js restricting for no good reason

@https_aya_19 the only case where I understand a direct TL is crow, owl, and most of magatsumi's abilities where there is literally no meaning lost in a direct TL inconsistent translation for no reason other than aura isn't doing a good job of translation

@https_aya_19 the point of a translation is to be able to accurately preserve and carry over the meaning into another language. In the event where there is no easy way to do that (suzaku), it would be preferable to leave the ability untranslated instead of a bad translation for "aura points"

@https_aya_19 let's take "malediction" as an example. Kodoku is an insect jar ritual performed by ancient japanese sorcerers. Magatsumi is an insect themed blade and the "last remaining creature" could be seen as soga himself. He was neglected and locked up, and as a result Kunishige died.

@https_aya_19 as you can see, the name kodoku has its own unique weight that the name "malediction" just... doesn't carry. Malediction is essentially a verbal curse. The meaning is lost and how the kodoku ritual ties into the narrative and its dichotomy with Enten is lost.

@Artispheria A Japanese a word can have multiple meanings that are essentially synonymous to each other. The kodokunis a type of insects curse and the malediction is the act of bringing about destruction. This falls in line with soga since he felt the people of shokoku needed to be destroyed
