3SX came out of 3s-decomp – a matching decompilation of the PS2 version of 3S from the Anniversary Collection 3SX builds on top of 3s-decomp, porting the game to Windows, macOS and Linux while adding much needed QoL improvements (like better pad support, scale modes, etc.)

@dustytokyo @foolyoldaccount @victoralonso_es The clip shows that per-frame game state is perfectly synced between versions (in this particular replay) FBNeo doesn't have the best frame pacing logic, which is why it runs a bit slower

I finally tried the 3S-ARM core for Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike on MiSTer… and WOW. Performance amazing. Playing it on a real arcade cabinet via Mistercade feels insane. PS2 based core, this is the closest I’ve felt to the real arcade experience 🔥🕹️ youtu.be/QZH9WfgCM8U

@MarcDWyz When I fix discrepancies, I do so under a toggle. So yes, you'll be able to choose the revision in local play. Online will always use arcade balancing

@3sx_dev Are you planning this to be optional? Like a settings toggle between PS2 and Arcade behavior. Arcade accuracy is neat for the port, but I also think the FGC has an unhealthy rejection of patches and updates too. I would love to see glitch fixes as much as version settings.

@Yetomy_Corp Native ports are usually much more performant than emulation With source code you can do whatever you want. On the other hand, patching arcade ROMs is much more time consuming, error-prone and limiting

@Wigort15 CPS3's CPU is Hitachi SH-2. Ghidra does a pretty good job of decompiling SH-2 machine code to C

@badjab326 iOS and Android shouldn't be too hard to support DEMIS98 and giblet have put a lot of effort into porting the game to PSP @Old_Man_Rukus is working on a Wii U port Raspberry Pi is a priority too

To be honest folks, I have been watching this project very closely. I don't really care for 3rd strike one way or another (I have the real CPS3 boards anyway), but the whole decompilation thing and the way he's going about it with the project goals... I really do think this is going to be the standard for these kinds of efforts, and I do think this is likely going to be the best and most accurate way to play this game when all is said and done. He's got me on board, I think I am going to investigate doing a decomp project in the future. I am sold!
