@jnjweld@pyfmuse@stackerco If you and your co-religionists stop spreading misinfromation about orthodox Christian beliefs you won't hear any further from me. It is that simple.
@AnotherStam@pyfmuse@stackerco We claim the privilege of worshipping God according to the dictates of our own conscience! And we gladly allow all others the same privilege. Also happy to be friends with those of other beliefs. If you’re tired of us, leave us alone? Don’t need or want you’re correction
The “Stick of Joseph” and “Stick of Judah” in Ezekiel 37 are not the Book of Mormon and the Bible. They’re not even talking about scrolls.
God tells Ezekiel to take two “sticks” and write on them Write on them “For Judah” and “For Joseph.” Then join them into one stick.
But the Hebrew word for sticks is “etz”which means piece of wood or a staff or an actual stick.
It represents the reunification of Judah, the southern kingdom and the northern kingdom of Israel/Ephraim/Joseph.
This is about bringing together a division that happened after Solomon and making kingdoms one nation again.
“I will make them one nation… and one king shall be king over them all.”
@AnotherStam@stackerco We claim the privilege of worshiping the Almighty God, according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all them in the same privilege. Let them worship how or what they may.
@HoggeSpenc428@LDS_Liberty No, I don't. I read it every day ( last 50 years) study it, love its history, and its place in our civilization, which we would not ever have had but for it.
It's poetry, and fable, and story and exhortation. "Belief" doesn't enter into it.
@kmbecker25@EinsiedlerKreb@antiantimormon And as a spiritual question your answer could well be different that mine. Most protestants believe in the priesthood of all believers, contrary to what Luther knew of medieval Catholicism; no "chain" is required. Authority? From the Holy Spirit. Like the early apostles.
@AnotherStam@EinsiedlerKreb@antiantimormon Why would historians opinion matter at all? The question is a spiritual question. How many atrocities can an organization commit and still claim an unbroken chain of priesthood authority from Peter to the current day? This isn't a question of historians.
What do "Mormons" really believe? What is the doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?
If you had no preconceived notions and only listened to #GeneralConference, ChatGPT concludes:
Jesus Christ is the center of everything.
He is not a supporting figure. He is the focus: “Come unto Him.” “Follow Him.” “Abide in Him.” “He is the way.”
His atonement and resurrection are the core: He heals, redeems, forgives, strengthens, and overcomes death itself.
Salvation is not passive belief. It is a covenant relationship: Baptism, sacrament, temple, obedience, repentance, enduring to the end, all bind us to Him.
The goal is transformation: Be born again. Change your heart. Become like Christ. Develop charity. Become a new creature.
The end is not just being saved, but returning home: To God. To eternal life. To eternal families.
And the evidence of it all is how we live: Love others. Serve. Minister. Forgive. Help others come home.
Everything points to Him.
Jesus Christ is not one doctrine among many.
He is the doctrine.
@kmbecker25@EinsiedlerKreb@antiantimormon The Reformation is a historical fact, although, at least initially Luther never intended to split with the Church. It led to a splintered faith. The Restoration, supposedly necessary after 1800 years of apostasy is an LDS theological concept with no historical credence.
@AnotherStam@EinsiedlerKreb@antiantimormon Welp. That's actually bizarre but good for you. Keep doing what works. As for what you won't tolerate.....the need for a reformation vs the need for a restoration is a question of degree. Has nothing to do with misinformation.
@kmbecker25@EinsiedlerKreb@antiantimormon Yup. To paraphrase Diarmud McCulloch (Oxford) in his classic "Christianity: The First Three Thousand Years" I continue to be a "warm friend" of Christianity. And I won't tolerate misinformation about its history.
@AnotherStam@EinsiedlerKreb@antiantimormon I dunno man. Whatever. I'm tired of arguing on X. It's pointless. So are you catholic? I'm guessing...
I will say I really appreciate some Catholic radio stations i listen to all the time. They have some good stuff.
@kmbecker25@EinsiedlerKreb@antiantimormon Lots of Catholics. Lots of humans. Lots of sin.
Not as many Mormons. Not as many humans. Not as much sin, I guess.
But still lots.
@AnotherStam@kmbecker25@antiantimormon Actually if you look into the history the mountain meadows massacre never happened and is simply propaganda made up by the US government
Ever wonder about the ‘other sheep’ Jesus mentioned in John 10:16?
After His resurrection, He visited the ancient Americas!
In 3 Nephi, He ministered to the Nephites, just as in Jerusalem.
Have you read this powerful account?
What does it mean to you?
#BookOfMormon#JesusChrist
@Latterdaytruth Interesting that I couldn't become a member for not believing Joseph Smith was a prophet, yet I have complete faith that Jesus is the Messiah.
@kmbecker25@EinsiedlerKreb@antiantimormon How many were killed by Mormons in the Mountain Meadows massacre? Did the Holy Spirit stay for that one?
It's called "sin". And any time you have humans you have sin.
@AnotherStam@EinsiedlerKreb@antiantimormon How many people did the Catholic Church torture and kill over the centuries. Inquisitions against Jews, Cathars, Templars, witches, Gnostics, etc etc etc?
What was the number and at what number does the Holy Ghost withdraw authority?
