i want to share something we've been quietly working on here at @gofinalrev - an all-in-one cutting tool that can make 99% of all parts we see. no need for pesky dfm feedback, in fact, we challenge you to give us something we can't make with this specialcutter.com

there are two types of people in the world: > those who know they're designing antennas > those who don't know they're designing antennas

i need to properly layout this thing and i have no idea how instinctively the positions of each thing should go according to some rules. EEs have these rules in their head because they live in the 90s. what are these rules?

@MsSlothrop yes they're just so great for rebuilding circuits. as for tabs, ig can only stock one supplier (: mail is awesome, what sort of processing?

@Bengineer_Cook They’re super handy at my work, the little plastic opener tab things sort of suck and you never have the correct one when you need it, but makes swapping PLC’s or whatever in a jiffy at 2am a breeze. But I work in the weird world of USPS mail processing automation.

maybe I'm crazy, but there's a certain beauty to DIN mounted push-in terminals - they just connect signals without screw terminals, stack and connect together, and show off their production-optimized molding

@Jordan_W_Taylor how does this enable hypersonics? the efficiency gains are decent, but the impact is much larger on space launch

The Rotating Detonation Engine: A revolutionary powerplant in which an explosion endlessly chases its own tail in a ring-shaped combustor. It promises huge efficiency gains, as well as the possibility of cracking hypersonic flight. But would you fly with a singing explosion..?

@willreil @RueNahcMohr probably most non-uniform warping caused by feature geometry could be characterized and then inverted in the slicer

this might be kinda crazy but what if we threw a night hackathon at @fdotinc this saturday starts at 11:59pm. @Lovable drops free credits @ midnight - free platform access, $100 Claude API credits, $250 Stripe credits. daylight savings hits at 2am, clocks jump forward and you lose an hour anyway - might as well spend it shipping something. build til dawn. top teams get a guest pass in march - a desk, lunch + the community here. reply if you're down and i'll make a partiful

1/ Lab automation is insanely mispriced. Today I visited a London-based biomaterials startup running large-scale bacterial screens. They use a colony picker that costs $95,000

Everyone romanticises Bell Labs but no one's willing to recreate the conditions that made it possible. They want to have their revenue and Nobel Prizes too.

BOOM! A stencil I got quoted $20 for now costs $0.01 to make Nobody believed in the 3d printed stencil but it worked perfectly! You guys are all crushed under the boot of big stencil. While I’m liberating the people. Start 3D printing your own stencils, it works!

3D PRINT YOUR OWN STENCILS I made a 3d printed solder stencil generator to see if it's feasible to make my own stencils for 10x less that it costs to get one from the fab. Enjoy my first public repo :) github.com/user-will/svg2…
