@texasrunnerDFW Should be disclosure with any editing. As someone who is evaluating properties, I dismiss anything with AI editing. It's not HGTV. I don't want your vision of what the house could look like with substantial renovations.

@Jam3sRyanTaylor @yacineMTB @IterIntellectus We try, but itโs not perfect, haha. Takes a lot of discipline to only have healthy snacks in a house and we to a bit of bribery with special treats occasionally to convince the 4yo to try new things and eat more healthy food

@txgermanbre @actsmaniac Most of the issue is actually that our healthcare system is extremely inefficient. If we spent as much as a percentage of GDP on healthcare as those European countries, then we could more easily afford universal healthcare even.

The issue I have is that this chart shows the opposite of your point. The US already has the most progressive income tax structure of the three. Europe taxes lower earners heavily via consumption/VAT and uses that revenue to fund robust transfers that reduce inequality. If you copy Europeโs taxes without copying the transfers and youโve just made poor people poorer. Thatโs not sound fiscal policy, thatโs just extraction.โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ America is one of the most unequal and unstable societies, and if we JUST did that, my god, if itโs bad now I canโt imagine what happens next. I just saw this woman crying on cspan because sheโs fully blind and lost her snap benefits due to the big beautiful bill and lost 30 lbs :(

Also, a vast majority of restaurants shovel French fries at you in the US and my 2yo will throw a huge fit if they are near her but she canโt

@IterIntellectus I have a 4yo, a 2yo, and a newborn. The newborn is the easiest of them. Not all are (if they are โcolickyโ, but he is easy).
The 2yo is tough right now. The 4yo is pretty easy too. The 2yo doesnโt understand conditional asks and throws fits screaming โNo, no no!โ When told no.

@DCLocalDesign @malewiczz @WazzCrypto Those are body shop and tire shop work. The mechanics that do your oil changes transmissions, timing belts and brakes, etc are mostly gone with EVs. It may not disappear entirely but there will be exponentially fewer โmechanicsโ needed for EV maintenance and fix up.

You canโt seriously believe Teslas never have to have any repairs or spend anything on fixes? I know people with Teslas and know for a fact they do.

@DCLocalDesign @malewiczz @WazzCrypto Brake pads last the life of the vehicle because they donโt get used for majority of the slowing down.
And for transmission, itโs fixed set of gears with no wear parts (clutch), so they donโt break either.

@DrDiGiorgio @DavidIAuerbach I also donโt trust my car mechanic for every fix or improvement they suggest, just like I donโt trust I need the extended warranty the dealer pushes. Should docs be thought of the same?

One of the most consequential healthcare policy mistakes of the last 15 years? The 2010 ban on physician-owned hospitals. I wrote about why repealing Section 6001 of the ACA isnโt a partisan issue. The growth of the administrative class over the past 30 years has been a disaster for education & health care. These administrators mostly just contribute to overhead costs, causing their industries to become more costly and less efficient. So why did this happen? In both cases, the answer lies in government regulation. Increased bureaucracy from the state has necessitated a growing number of people in education and health care whose entire job it is to fill out forms, without doing any actual educating or healing themselves. So taxpayers, students, and patients aren't just paying for teachers and doctors. They're paying to support a whole class of pencil pushers. It's madness.

The real world (and especially biology) is much messier than many would want to believe

@ETadpole @eden__space @AlecStapp You might even be able to point to the idea that this type of urban development could save far more lives from pedestrian and cycling accidents than would be lost to fires, but I donโt think the people writing the codes would accept that.

@ETadpole @eden__space @AlecStapp Probably if you buried all the roads underground and made the above ground pedestrian only it would be a great solution, but in the US the fire codes wonโt allow this as the fire trucks would loose access to buildings exteriors
