It's heartbreaking to write this, but one of my best friends unexpectedly passed away on 11 November, 2024, leaving behind her five beautiful children aged 7 to 17. We have created a GoFundMe to help raise money to help support her children. gofund.me/ea8bc525

@WordPress Can the opensource WordPress community now look at ways to allow Plugin updates to be downloadable direct from the Plugin developers servers instead of via any WordPress infrastructure, or is this a bad idea? Why do we have to rely on WordPress.org to control this?

@WordPress Very disappointed in what's happened here. Small dev business here with plenty of maintenance contracts relying on lots of Automation. I'll be eagerly anticipating any class actions that come out of this.

@iMarkPhillips @jack @Square There are others that I could try such as Ecwid, or BigCommerce, but the obvious solution was the Square Online platform to integrate natively with their payment & POS platform that the client would not budge from. And that’s where my initial tweet came from. 2/2

@DenMurphy @jack @Square Thats @DenMurphy Seems you need a Ecomm solution that meets your needs before looking for a payment solution. Most of these ecomm sites have too many restrictions for me, or require too much relearning of proprietary systems. I dont play with them much.

Dear @jack, why is @Square Online so bloody frustrating to use? 1. There is no method to support clients as an Agency. 2. "Phone" support is redirected to chat support. 3. Chat support seems to be Level 1 at best. 4. You can't build with menus offline until you pay to upgrade.

@iMarkPhillips @jack @Square So the issue is not that. The client is set on using Square, so I’m locked into using an e-commerce solution that supports Square. I normally use Shopify, but they don’t play with Square payments as they have their own platform ShopPay. 1/2

@iMarkPhillips @jack @Square Hey Mark yeah I think you misread my post, @Square Online is the name of Square's ecomm solution. It's actually Weebly reskinned, looks like they acquired that instead of building their own solution. And yeah I keep clients away from Woocommerce for Ecomm, too much maintenance.

@TMFScottP hey is this your Facebook Profile? Or has some hacker (nation states do this) been playing a very long game (1st post Jan 31, 2019) of creating a Facebook profile and then finally friending people after 5+ years for scam purposes: facebook.com/profile.php?id…

@iMarkPhillips @jack @Square If Airwallex had an online platform perhaps. If I could have convinced the client to move away from Square I wouldn’t have this issue. I normally move everyone to Shopify, but Shopify uses ShopPay.

@Austen There are a bunch of tech Slack groups in Australia that use Slack this way, but we have lost so many interactions and data due to being locked up now.

@Austen I just wish Slack had a cheaper tier 4 small groups of less than 100 actv members. For groups of like minded individuals who are not a business or non profit, you can't see any of the great things that were posted by long term members. USD$875 per Mo for 100 mems is crazy $$$

This is hands down the most unacceptable interaction I've ever had as a CEO. Having paid Slack millions of dollars, exporting our data is failing. We tried a few ways, none of it works. Slack's response? "Sign a new contract or your data automatically enters deletion queue."

Trying to find a great technical book on off-grid solar design and thought I would try #ChatGPT to shortcut reading through the myriad of book reviews. I await your upcoming new book "Design of Off-Grid Photovoltaic Systems in Australia" Dr John Ward @CSIRO 😁

Random thought - If 127.0.0.1 is home, do we classify 127.0.0.2 as next-door neighbour?
