🚨NEWS: Cursor’s $50B “in-house model” is literally Kimi K2.5 with RL on top. Got caught in 24 hours >be Moonshot AI >spend hundreds of millions training Kimi K2.5 >1 trillion parameters, 15 trillion tokens, agent swarm architecture >beat GPT-5.2 and Opus 4.5 on real benchmarks >open-source it because you believe in the ecosystem >one condition: display “Kimi K2.5” if you make over $20M/month from it >Cursor takes the model >runs RL on coding tasks >ships it March 19 as “Composer 2” >blog post: “continued pretraining + scaled reinforcement learning” >zero mention of Kimi K2.5 >“our in-house models generate more code than almost any other LLMs in the world” >publishes benchmark chart >Composer 2 against Opus 4.6 and GPT-5.4 >uses the chart to justify raising at $50 billion! >less than 24 hours later >kimi dev intercepts the API response >model ID: kimi-k2p5-rl-0317-s515-fast >they didn’t even rename it >Moonshot head of pretraining runs tokenizer test >confirms: identical to Kimi’s tokenizer >publicly tags Cursor’s co-founder: “why aren’t you respecting our license?” >two more Moonshot employees post confirmations >all three posts deleted within hours >legal is now involved >but it gets worse >Cursor had Kimi K2.5 listed as a FREE model in their UI just weeks ago >users were openly using it >Feb 9: “K2.5 was in my model list. I updated and it vanished” >it vanished because Cursor pulled it from the picker, and relaunched it as their own model >Moonshot valuation: $4.3B >Cursor valuation: $50B Absolute state of Cursor.

@kilianhekhuis @wisplite @SebAaltonen EVs could refill as fast as gasoline in theory. You’d just need ~10–15 kV through the cable. The limitation isn’t energy transfer—it’s safely plugging that in.

The new BMW i3 seems extremely promising: - Up to 900km WLTP range - 800V system / 400kW charging - Up to +400km range in 10 minute charging - Side profile is similar to Polestar 2, which is nice I personally like the i3 looks better than Mercedes CLA. Tech seems great too.

@kilianhekhuis @wisplite @SebAaltonen How was I wrong? I said physical limits. Not the current charging technology. You can push more energy to a car via electricity than you can via gasoline according to physics.

@kilianhekhuis @SebAaltonen You waste most of the energy to heat. And you have to suck it out of the ground and process it and transport it. We have megawatt chargers and that's nowhere near the physical limits. 😂

@Depthperpixel @SebAaltonen Currently, 150kW chargers are considered fast. That's 150 kJ/s. Gasoline contains about 35 MJ, and you can pump gas about 25 liter/min. So that's 9MJ/min for electricity, and 875MJ/s for gas, or almost 100 times faster! So you're off by two magnitudes 😂

Wait wait wait waaait a second.... He's saying he wants his $500,000 engineer to actually cost him $750,000 by using $250,000 worth of AI tokens. Wasn't AI supposed to make things cheaper, not cost 50% more?
TFTC@TFTC21

Jensen Huang: "If that $500,000 engineer did not consume at least $250,000 worth of tokens, I am going to be deeply alarmed. This is no different than a chip designer who says 'I'm just going to use paper and pencil. I don't think I'm going to need any CAD tools.'"

When you bought the $50,000 Tesla Model Y to save on gas & maintenance. Then you learned: - It loses 20-35% of its value by year 3 - It loses 55-58% of its value by year 5 So by year 5 you lost $35,000+ of value? ....Congrats on saving ~$1,000/yr on gas.

@kilianhekhuis @Depthperpixel @SebAaltonen The theoretical maximum speed for both technologies is about the same if you count the fact that you could technically build a station that hot swaps the entire gas tank or battery with a full one (some Chinese EVs do this IIRC).

@kilianhekhuis @SebAaltonen I've not seen the physics of transferring gasoline wirelessly. Also I wonder why we use power lines to transfer electricity when we could just pump gasoline? The physics is undeniable. Electricity is a much faster and more efficient way to transfer energy.

Microsoft has the perfect MacBook Neo competitor with the Surface Laptop 13 but it's just a little bit too expensive If they can get it down to $600, that's your Windows neo competitor. At $899/$999 you're getting to MacBook Air territory and the Air is simply better

@Depthperpixel @luke_pighetti They are a sovereign state anything without a UN mandate is illegal. We might not like what they are doing but that are the rules. Anything else opens a slippery slope. Was the same with the US intervention in Venezuela

Jeff Bezos, worth $234 billion, plans to replace 600,000 Amazon workers with robots. Now, he wants to spend $100 billion to fully automate not just his warehouses, but factories in the U.S & other countries. Oligarchs are waging all out war against workers. FIGHT BACK.

@jamal_aol @luke_pighetti @ThomasBurkhartB Kim didn't really need the nukes. They managed to get enough conventional weapons to have the same effect. This is how they got the nukes. They couldn't be attacked without them taking out south Korea first anyway. Now they just have to be contained.

@luke_pighetti @Depthperpixel @ThomasBurkhartB I hope they've learned their lessons now. Don't bother with sham negotiations that get you killed. Go for the nukes like Kim. Especially since the US has been gunning for them for decades and their special allies have been after your destruction for decades.

@levelsio I'm moving all compute to either cloud or a remote machine plugged into the wall in my office. Then going ultra light for the device I take with me. Either just a phone or a MacBook neo. This is the way.

Another great argument for running Claude Code on your VPS server and not your laptop is its battery use "Terminal" app here is all Claude Code sessions, ignore the Claude app here I have a MacBook Pro 13" M4 and with Claude Code running even on idle my battery dies from 100% to 0% in about 3 hours, it's insane Claude Code on server via Termius SSH sucks 20x less power for your laptop
