When I got back to Abuja, a soldier stopped me and asked where I was going. I told him I was going into FCT. He politely asked if I could give his colleague a lift, and I agreed. As we got close to Giri junction, I asked the soldier where he was going. He said Zuba, while I was going through Lugbe into town. I told him Zuba is not far and transport there is usually around ₦200–₦300. I asked if he was stopping there or going further. That was when he told me something sad. He said he was going home to see his newborn twins for the first time after 10 months because he was not given leave. Sadly, his wife had called to say one of the babies had died, and she begged him to come quickly to see the other twin. I asked why he didn’t travel earlier. He said he was waiting for his salary since it was already the 2nd, but it was not paid. When I asked how he wanted to finish the journey, he showed me all the money he had—₦4,500, which was not enough. I felt bad and gave him ₦20,000. "Someone mistakenly sent a sum of "Two Million, two hundred and sixty thousand Naira only" (2,260,000) to my Opay yesterday, I was pressing my phone when I saw the notification on my Opay, I had to look again to be so sure. Then immediately my phone rang, I picked, it was a deep confusing voice, whom at the very best shall start with Salam, but I knew why he didn't. I had to burst into a loud laugher and asked him to calm down, that I saw the cash and I'm sending it to him on the same number he sent it. He obliged while deeply thanking me. Immediately, I received yet another notification of 50k from same number and I sent it back without further meditation, knowing fully it's a token of appreciation. I sent it not because I'm sufficient of the amount, no, the amount is a big percentage of my monthly salary but because I believe I don't have to be paid for being kind, and of course for doing what I must do. He called and was appreciating me like I liberate him from going to hell. I thought, even if it's a business dealings, I'm certain the business profit would not be upto that 50k, or maybe it's a part saving from his savings, then why do I think I worth that huge amount for just being generous to what if I didn't he might still get back his money through legal proceedings. But, It happened and for good, we now became friends who Maybe would be of a greater benefit to eachother. But then a thought strikes me, why would one be using "Fintech accounts" to execute such a massive transaction?. Two months ago, I bought a new generator from an Igbo man's shop. I also purchased some fuel and a brand new engine oil to test it that same day. It was working perfectly fine. After the test, he wrote a receipt, packaged the generator, and I left with it. I used the generator for just one week before travelling to Lagos for an assignment, where I spent the next two months. Before leaving, I properly packed up the generator and locked it away. Upon my return from Lagos two months later, I discovered that our transformer had developed issues and there had been no electricity in our area for almost two weeks. I bought some fuel to power my new generator, but after running for a while, it would suddenly stop and go off. Eventually, it stopped working completely. Thinking it might be an engine oil problem, I changed the oil, but the generator still refused to start. I took it back to the seller and asked him to replace it. He refused, saying it had been two months since I bought it, and that if it had any issues, I should repair it rather than expecting a new one. I explained that I had only used it for one week before travelling to Lagos and had not touched it for the entire two months I was away. I questioned why I would need to repair a brand new generator that I had barely used. I insisted that he replace it, but he still refused, and the situation became heated. What I really don’t understand is why he doesn’t want to replace it and give me a new one.
