@alexstubb The magic is just a culture of low expectations where no one is allowed to stand out. It’s easy to be the 'happiest' when you've been conditioned to never want anything more.

Finland is the Happiest country in the World for the 9th year running. We also climbed up the world brand index from 7th to 5th. I am often asked why we do well in these rankings. I do not think there is a magic potion, but it helps to have a society which strives towards freedom, equality and justice. The basis of it all is a welfare society, a robust education system, a sense of security and a close attachment to nature. There is no such thing as a perfectly happy society, but providing some building blocks that give us a chance to live a meaningful life, to help others, will nudge us in the right direction during the journey of life.

@thealepalombo Worse shithole than Malta. All these places have these low tax regimes for a reason. Because they are shitholes nobody wants to live in longer than necessary. Like my 8th-generation billionaire friend says, “it's cheap for a reason.”

I think 80% of families looking for a European base will end up in Cyprus. Here's why. 15% corporate tax. A 17-year non-dom regime that eliminates tax on foreign dividends and interest with just 60 days of presence. English everywhere. British common law. No wealth tax. No inheritance tax. 340 days of sunshine. EU citizenship after 7 years of residency. Direct flights to London, Dubai, and most of Europe. Healthcare is affordable and high quality. International schools in every major city. And with €300K in real estate, you qualify for permanent residency if you prefer the investment route. No other country gives you this combination at this price point. Some people find it boring. As Portugal cools down, 80% of globally mobile families will most likely end up choosing Cyprus. What's your take: how's life in Cyprus? Is it really as boring? Please share your honest pros and cons.

@TimurNegru Cool but the whole area is full of half-empty houses because nobody wants to live in a place where you need to fear getting gassed and robbed.

This stretch of the Côte d'Azur has every type of wealth in one place. Young money in Villefranche. Old money in Beaulieu. Mega money on Cap Ferrat. And locals who know where to hide in Èze.

For 99.9% of you life is just one big race to a paid off home and $3-4M liquid 99.9% do not need any more than that especially since you will get bored and always do some work for additional money Keep it simple. Never worry about the flexers on IG, they go broke anyway

there’s a huge problem in fashion, even with very expensive brands it’s very hard to get clothes that • look good AND fit well • are at the forefront of trends, cuts etc • are made from 100% natural materials (cotton, linen, Kashmir, merino etc) I spent so much time manually checking materials and most brands focusing on natural only tend to be a bit bland, too-old school or hippie-ish even a lot of designer brands use polyester etc it’s kinda crazy I need a shopping agent who checks this stuff for me or someone collecting the best brand to send out weekly newsletters could probably build a good business around this, I think this trend will only get bigger but there’s are very few cool brands who already care about not using plastic

@BowTiedBull I would also add ultra-luxury gated communities. Half of the $20M+ homes sit empty most of the year, intended to feed owners' egos and status. Saddest thing I have seen in a long time.

Most of you guys need much less money than you think. The whole instagram lifestyle is a scam. If you're happy with your life you don't put anything up tied to your name Otherwise people show up "trying to fix you" Goes downhill every time. Stay stealth!

When investing in a company you don't run, imagine a someone from that company investing in your business. You will immediately see him as a sucker, easy to fool because of the asymmetry of the information. When you invest, you are the sucker & you don't know where.

Nobody makes it to real money and moves to a third world dumpster. Rich people will live in Tax Havens or the ultra nice places (Laguna Beach, Central Park, Hampton etc.) If someone claims to be balling and living in Canada we all know the truth. Exception to rule NHL blah blah

@BowTiedBull The real challenge is to understand when to stop. Everybody knows too many ultra-rich people who stay in “until I hit this mark, and then I return to the normal world.” And guess what? The number goes up, and they end up being prisoners for the rest of their lives.

Tax havens are life changing if done correctly. Don’t go to make a few hundred grand in taxes. You go to massive multiply your entire net worth. Changes your life forever, decades pulled in.

Don’t really get why Trump is saying he wants to fire Powell. Just going to make it harder for him to pivot since he’ll look politically motivated

Quick math on Money Equivalent vs. Life value 25 - $1M is rich 30 - $3M is rich 35 - $5-6M is rich 40 - $8M is rich 45 - $10M+ is rich $10M+ is always rich. Most don't need more than paid off home plus $3-4M. 65+ doesn't matter most of your life is gone

@ryanlemenager Do you put any weight on the fact that you don't have climate risks similar to those in Florida, Texas, or California? Illinois/Milwaukee starts to look pretty attractive to me.

Why on earth do I live here? Do people in Florida/Arizona/North Carolina/Texas/etc. ask themselves the same thing in august? Our answer is pretty clear - to be close to family - but with another 7-10 inches of snow on the way any of those places sound pretty good right now.

In 1945, Finland was poor and war-torn. They owed 6% of their GDP to the Soviets—annually. Today, it consistently ranks as the world's happiest country. Meanwhile, America isn't even in the top 20. Here's how Finland rebuilt from nothing:
